Default Close call

well I had a pretty close encounter with another noobie yeasterday. I had gotten out to the feild yesterday evening and went up for my first flight and everything was cool. so i came down re-fueled and went back for my second flight. *Now I don't know about any other fields but at mine when you come in for a landing you call out "LANDING" loud enough for the other flyers to hear. So i was up about 20 minutes so I decided to come in again so I called out "landing" and proceeded to come in on my base leg. I noticed another guy who was flying coming in on a base leg to so i thought he was doing a fly by because of his altitude so I continued coming in. I was about 30 feet away from the runway when he comes down and is flying right by me. I'm a noob myself to so this freaked me out he was flying i would say no more then 5 feet away from me at the same speed. Just before the runway there is a berm that is about 7-9 feet higher then the runway so you have to watch out for that. Now both of our planes were approaching the berm and we were really close but i still thought he wa doing a fly by so i continued going. Then the other guy smacks the berm, so i went full throttle and pulled outta there and missed his plane by about 2 to 6 feet. I went around again by this time he retrived his plane and was in the pitts and i landed.

The other guy never called landing and i don't know if he was going to either. And usually if you do a low pass you call that out to. I know i called landing out loud enough because i talked to my dad later and he heard it and he was in the pitts.

It sure freaked me out!

Anybody else got some noobie close calls?

yes, I had a close call about three weeks ago. Actually it was a little closer than close. I am still training with a buddy box. me and another guy at the field were both flying on buddy boxes with our instructors and we were flying by each other at about a 90' angle to each other. both instructors said at the same time, don't worry you have plenty of (CRASH) room. My Buddy's plane landed with a damaged wing and after we found mine in the weeds, it was missing half of the main landing gear and the bottom of the fuse was ripped open. It is all repaired now, but i have not flown it yet. I have an appointment with the instructor this Wednesday. I hope things go better this time!
