I'm losing sleep over this hobby...... My needs and desires have me eyeing the kids college funds and worse yet, when any new hobby catalog comes in the mail the bills that accompany it are put to the bottom of the pile and are soon forgotten. I don't think there's a RC magazine that I haven't seen or passed up at the newstand and I wear fuel residue like my wife wears hand lotion! When is it going to stop? I have these nagging questions in the back of my head, like.....how come recievers don't come in 6-packs and servos by the dozen? I wonder what people really think when they see me standing out in the middle of the field staring at the clouds and tears are streaming from wind-irritated eyes because I'm afraid to blink
. Oh well, it's worth it.
Have a great day, I am!

A trebel hook at that!!!!! I got hooked a tad over 3 years ago....you wind up driving to a relative's house and spot a field. You tell the wife, "SOB Hun, look at that!!!!". "I'll bet I could fly my Dogfighter in that field". Actually, RC isn't all that expensive. It depends on how you apply the parts. I have gobs of electric models and only one glow model. The electrics, I move rx and esc from plane to plane. I save 100's of dollars this way. Much so that I wind up buying more models/ARF's/Kits. I'm always doing something in the shop. Testing motors, re-doing ailerons etc. Its always something.

Yep...hook, line, and sinker! He,s a gonner. Fortunately he has US. RCU is GREAT therapy for those of us who DON'T get to fly as often as we want. Or buy the planes we "need".
Good luck with NEVER getting "cured".

I caught it when I was 14 and now 15. Along with eletric trucks, nitro trucks, nitro cars, electric planes, rockets, eletric boats, eletric sbus, my go-ped (lots of $) and paintballing. So many so many.

1999 is when I got the "Green Light from the wife. I have 4 ready to fly (40 - 90 size glow) aircraft, AFP flight sim, a small electric, and lots of things to make em fly. GOD I LOVE HER!
Now after I come home from a day of flying she asked how many pieces did I bring back and anytime that I tell her I need something she just looks at me and says "how much now?"
XS, I am just like you, I am constantly checking out areas and reading my RC mags and thinking about what next to purchase. When I listen to certain songs on the radio, I will move my hand as if I am flying a routine to it and my wife will look at me and say "what the heck are you doing?" I tell her, "can you wait till I land!" [sm=lol.gif]
Hang on brother...........its a hell of a ride!

Welcome to the club. Sounds like you got the addiction just like the rest of us. I got out yesterday and flew for the entire afternoon. Driving home, it felt like I had been to therapy. A big grin, both planes intact, great weather, the smell of nitro, and a real fun afternoon.

Oh, boy, I hope I don't get the phantom TX controlling fingers. Ever since high school typing class I've always done phantom touch-typing. My wife got to the point that she asks what I'm typing.

I am into combat, got the bug eight years ago, right from trainer to combat (don't recommend this)
It has gotton to the point that the wife is keeping a running tab on how much I spend to field the fleet.
Somehow with all of the planes and motors and receivers and servos, I still find the need to buy even more every year.
Maybe I should just buil by Scale Corsair and Typhoon, get them out of the way and get back to maintaining my fleet.
OOPS, new baby due in less than three weeks, have to set them aside for a couple of months.

You know you are done when you can't buy anymore kits because you have no where to put them. I had that problem. Bought me a bigger house. Problem solved

I know the feeling
shear heaven while in the skies
hope you have enough fuel in the car to get home from the field
including a trip to the hobby shop for a few extras for next time.
Bills?? What bills??? Thank goodness the husband pays those.
I have also got it bad but so does he

I could not have said it better.
I will add that it's all worth while when you have to peel off all the CA on your fingers once that nice new plane takes to the air and needs very little if any trim. I am even smelling Nitro fumes at random times throughout the day. I get neverous twitches and my thimbs start moving when I look at the sky and it's a nice deep blue with big puffy white clouds and a gentle breeze going straight down the runway.
I better stop now, it's dark outside but very cool and no wind to speak of and.....here I go again...

Man, I know what you mean! I knew I was addicted when I opened my first kit, a TF Spit. My boss knew I was addicted durring that slow week when I walked into the office with my buildboard, toolbox and a kit and he said "I thought you were joking!" My wife kenw I was addicted when I said "go ahead and hire a contractor to finish the living room remodel".

this hobby is the best. i am totally hooked as well as the rest of you. in fact it got to the point where when i was at work all i could think about was flying. it got so bad i saved nearly all my pay checks and as soon as summer came along i quit my job. Now i spend about 9 -10 hours a day at the field doing the thing i love. but i still work for a volunteer fire dept so i still do the other thing i love (helping people when their lives depened on it)

Well, the "Kommadant" sorta flipped out as soon as the credit card bill came. Mind you, I have started to fly glow and when ya do that,
ya need all the stuff right from the beginning (field box, power panel etc.). In the last week, I have bought..........
Omei 2000 sailplane (I couldn't believe it when my bid of $45 won on ebay...this goes for $119 at nesail or I-care)
T-52 from JK Aerotech (gonna be my sunday relax in camp chair flyer and winter ski flyer)
U Can Do 3D 40 (no one had any Twists left...plus, many hobby shop people said this plane flies better anyway)
Evolution .46 NT Engine (haven't heard on bad thing about this engine so I figured I'd give it a try)
3 weeks prior, I had bought a Hangar 9 Arrow and OS .46 AX.
The really sad thing about all this is I am laid off from job but do consulting work for a Payroll/HR software company. The jobs are few and far between right now. I have all kinds of time for flying. Plus, I have 50 acre farm in which I can fly all my 20-some electric planes.
And its boards like this and the E-Zone that have led me to all this RC Flight Heavendom.....(is that a word heavendom???)
