Had my 1st lesson tonight and absolutely awesome! Plane flew like, well, a SUPERSTAR. So nice to see it in the air for the 1st time. Had to do a little jig when it left the ground. Very cool instructor, nice guy, relaxed. He took it a couple hundred feet up, couple turns then handed it over, and didnt have to take it back until landing. Soo Sweet. Here's what Im left with from my stick time:
She's beautiful
whoa thats tinny, and responsive, and which way's it pointing! oh ok.
huge grin, forgetting to breath, blink, relax.
super tense.
Cheeks ache from the perma-grin that I'm still wearing.
Think the addiction has set in.
Instructor had almost no suggestions thanks to RCU and all of you.

Well, that's great! I think most people get that rush when they see the model they have worked on leave the ground the first time. Guess what, that feeling never ends. Every time that you maiden a new aircraft and it is successful, you will feel that way.

Congrats on a fine beginning! You are doing it the right way. Unlike my cousin that just got a Superstar as well and decided to "just taxi it around for a bit!" Of course he wasn't used to the throttle and steering response. He pushed the throttle and the plane jumped forward. Before he knew what was happening the plane speeded up and crashed into a curb. It broke out the firewall and split the fuselage seams to half way back of the plane. Now I have to piece it back together before we can actually take it to the field! [>:]

First of all let me offer my condolences to your wallet. From this point forward consider yourself severely addicted to a hobby thats got to be harder to quit then smoking and heroin. LOL
Seriously though, congrats on getting it in the air. Now go and work on getting your first solo. As the guy's said you've got many more firsts to come.

All you new flyers take heed!!!! The $$$ from your wallet will deplete exponentially!!!!! Its always the new model or new motor or new engine etc. Add in you club dues and your yearly contribution to AMA and you will have a small fortune tied up. I know this first hand and
the house Kommadant will attest!!!! You could turn out like me, the binge buyer!!!!! I just bought 3 models last week, a sailplane, an easy sunday electric (T-52) and a U Can Do 3D 40 ARF. Plus, your not home alot of nights and weekend because your at the field playing with your toys!!!

thnx for the words,
I'll remember a very long time the feeling when it 1st left the ground and the smile that wouldn't leave my face. I hear ya on the wallet factor, and I just don't have the money to support my new habit. 2 little ones are expensive. ahh this is going to be bad. Long years of penny pinching and scrapping up change. got to admit, a little jealous of the guys who have a half dozen planes and 2 more kits in the works. Oh well.
maybe RCU needs a new plane for penny pinching, best bang for the buck, make it instead of buy it, McGuiverish people. Just a thought.
on more thing about the lesson. Babies and all, couldn't get plane balanced b4 the field. I knew it to be nose heavy with battery behind the servo tray so I marked the wing and took some weights. Instructor saw where the battery was and commented. I told him plane was unbalanced etc. He just slapped the wing on, started it up and away it went. flew great too, I think. seemed to but no perspective. thought that interesting
