I'm looking at a Futaba BR--2000 for $39.99.
What is a good battery checker?

I use something called a Sirius Super Test. It works really well with no guesswork. It works on 4, 5, and 8 cell battery packs with choice of 3 different loads and shuts itself down when the battery pack reaches 1 volt/cell. I found a link that you can follow to look at one. I have run my own tests on the unit to check its sensitivity and repatability. ie. battery pack juast coming off the charger vs. the same pack sitting for 2 days after coming off the charger. As far as I can tell the unit is "very accurate" and I have used mine for about 3 years now.

I use a simple expanded scale volt meter. It tests the battery under load and gives the voltage in digital reading. It works for 4.8 and 6 volt reciever batteries and is fairly inexpensive.

I'm not too familliar with Futaba's battery checker, just be sure that it can apply a load while checking the voltage.

I use Hangar 9s digital voltmeter that has 3 selectable loads for checking my RX batteries.

Think that charger can only check RX batts? See how many cells it can check.

I don't need it to check anything other than Rx batteries. My 9C has a digital voltage readout on the display.

I use a cheapo Hobbico/Tower meter to read my batteries. Works good. That BR2000 can discharge them also. Might be kinda handy.
