This is my 1st time posting on on this forum, so the 1st responder get to say "Welcome to RCU!". What a motivation that is, huh?
i used to fly a number of years ago and now my 14yr old is getting into it. I told him if he gets through his trainer and is still interested he can have the Goldberg Super Chip i used to fly. Well....he's doin good and is still interested. True to my word i gave it to him. Now i know what it will feel like when i hand him the keys to the car! I just have this gut feelin he's gonna kill that airplane and even though i don't fly anymore, I still feel some love for it[
]
I happen to have a Super Tigre .51 will low hours (like that matters with that motor!) and would like to mate it to one of those cheap tail-draggers. The ST weighs in at a hefty 18.4oz. Do you think it would just be too much for either the Uproar40 or Fun51?
Someone please help me....the safety of a mighty pretty Chip is at stake here!

Hellephant,
I have the Uproar 40 with an Evolution .46. It has plenty of power, but will still glide in for a landing. The .51 should be about the same. The Uproar kit was my first build and it went together easily. The Fun51 looks like a quick build also since it is mostly wing, but my vote is still for the Uproar.
PS My 14 year old helped me build the Uproar and is starting to get some stick time in on the EX2.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not too concerned about over-powering the Uproar, my main concern stems from weaknesses i've heard reported concerning the fuse just aft of the wing on the uproar. Of course with that extra weight in the nose beefing up the fuse behind the wing shouldn't be an issue.

Ah, well if you go for the Fun-51 then beef it up at the front. It's pretty easy to break off the fuse right at the LE. Extra 1/16 ply from the back of the back of engine mount blocks to the front of the canopy is how I'd do it if I build another. Besides that it's been through at least a dozen crashes and nothing else has been broken.

I put a couple of flights on my Uproar today. It has been a very tough and durable plane. I broke the fuse behind the wing about a hundred flights ago. It is an easy fix and I had it back out flying the next day. My turn to downwind because I didn't want to walk to get the plane and subsequent stall would have reduced many planes to toothpicks. Don't worry about the weakness there, it keeps other parts of the plane from breaking.

if ur gonna go with the fu 51 dont lfy it like its a 3D.lol that was my mistake, i broke the wing halves right off!!! Beef them up good. Also reinforce were the landing gear plate wiht so fiberglass cloth, on bouncy landings ur gona need it. Also make sure ur receiver isnt to big . My first one didnt fit. Ohter than that ur good to go. Pluse at 45 bucks the kit is practacly disposable. I started my kit ona sunday, and was done ona friday. Have fun!!

You broke the wing in half???? You said 3D so I assume you meant in flight. Dang! I've crashed my at full power into the ground like 5 times and the nose is the only thing that ever broke. The wing is beat all to heck but still solid.
