Default Servo Question

I am getting back into the Hobbie after being out for about 6 years. I am planning to get a .60 size Trainer. I have a Radio but I will need to buy some servos for this plane. Will the standard 44 oz/in servos work? Or do I need to get the higher powered ones at 61 oz/in. ?

Thanks.

Standard servos should do fine. More torque is a good thing, however, so if you can afford a few extra bucks for the stronger servos go for it.

A 60 size plane in general can use stds through out unless you require a lot of rudder and or Elev auth then I would suggest a MG servo or at least High torque but thats jsut MO. I would rather pay the extra 30$ upfront for the added security. But for a trainner the standard 3004's are plenty you wont have any issues I think they are like $12.00 a piece.

I would highly reccomend Hitec HS-475HB's. They are reasonably fast. Have 61 oz of torque at 4.8 volts. They are ball bearing tops. And have the new composite gears. They also can be ordered for less than 20$. Get some that fit your radio, I think you will be pleased.

And to answer your question the standards would do. But if you get the bigger ones you will have them for your next plane. You can find lots of uses for the higher torque servo's. You end up limiting yourself with standards. Good luck and welcome back.
