How about a nice used minivan. Dodge Caravans can be had used for a song anymore. There are lots of good deals on used minivans because there are so many out there. You can haul a pile of planes inside the car. And have lots of room left over. Plus they are comfortable and ride nice. They are great to go shopping with (imagine how many plane kits you can cram in one!). Your mother will love it (make brownie points for dad too).

I thought the 4 wheelers were "Bimmers" and the bikes wer eBeemers, but that's why I drive an Audi, can never remember. I drive an A4 and can get 3 planes in it confortably, two with a kid or one with two kids. Largest plane I transport though is a Top Flite P-39, although the Rascal's wings are the longest. It's all in how you pack them, and no I don't have anything sticking out the sunroof or out the trunk.

I have a Toyota Corolla, my wife drives a mini-van.
With the small part the back-seat tipped down (it is a 60/40 split seat) I can get an Ultra-Sport 40+ plane into the trunk with the wing on still.
A 740 should be able to do the same with a 1.20 size plane!

From: Laurel, MD,
I don't know if they still exist, but there used to be a pretty good selection of .25 powered sport planes out there, with wingspans in the 48" range. There was a Tiger in that size I think, and quite a few others. I'm not sure they didn't all become extinct, but if you look around you might find something.
You may just have to leave a trainer at home, then just about any of the .40 size sport planes should be ok. Though be aware that the dimenstions can vary a lot. A Funtana 40, for example, has a much bigger fuse than your typical trainer, and the wing chord is a lot bigger and the wing is much thicker, but the wingspan is noticeably shorter. Most of the typical good 2nd planes, however, are pretty close to trainers in size and shape, just low wing instead of high wing.

the pickup bed makes a nice bed.
offroading, go anywhere, better spots.
that'll be use to find flying spots of course.
the SIG SE wing are in two halves
you can unscrew the aluminum landing gears for transport for most planes.

If you can't get the bigger birds in that bimmer, then you aren't creative enough. I could get all my big birds in the benz and the inside can't be much bigger than the bimmer. Do what I did, get the dodge quad with the hemi and put a topper on it. You can get as many planes in the back as you want and still take 6 in the front, and you will get to the field darn fast!
