Precisely what I was looking for. I just need to find a source for the aluminum tubing. Would you let me know where you found it at? It needs 12 mm or about 7/16" I.D. to fit over the "nipple", I had thought about larger tubing to tackle the backpressure problem. On another note, you feel that the hobby knife is tough enough to cut that thin ply on the underside to make the hatch? The stuff is pretty hard, I have broken off the tip on one blade trying to cut some before, I would hate to start this and bugger it up because the blade can't hack it. It would give the thin cut I need, I just don't want the blade to skip out or a bad line. Thanks.

Ok Minn, I buckled up and did the hatch. I had to sharpen the #11 blade about 10 times while I was cutting this out. Seemed to dull rather quickly, but sharpens easily. Take a look:

After I moved the battery, I was able to remove 2 oz. of weight from the nose to get it to rebalance at 4.5" .

Stuk - Mars, I like the finish jobs on both of these. What do you use to keep the edges of the Ultracote from lifting? I have re-ironed mine until I feel like I should be working in a laundry. Mars, the main gear looks like the wheels are under the wing. Will that cause a problem with noseover? I converted an Alpha to a taildragger, and it wasn't happy until I got the axle out to the Leading Edge.

Back to the CG issue. I now have 12 flights on my Tiger and have moved the battery, taken the 1/2 ounce of weight out and moved the CG back from 4 to 4 1/4 inches from the LE. The plane flies likes it's on rails! What can I expect in terms of changed flight characteristics, by moving things around to move the CG back even further to 4 1/2 inches from LE?

I too have a Tiger 60 arf and love it. Mine balanced right out of the box with an OS60SF two stroke.. an older engine but it worked out just great for me. No extra weight, nothing. I did use a new 1100mah battery which adds a slight more weight but it flys, as you said, like it is on rails.

I played the prop game with it. Started out with an APC 12-7, sluggish, put an 11-5, lots of get up and go but the RPM went to 14,400, went to an 11.5-5 and it improved, then my flight instructor suggested and gave me an 13-5 which works just great. RPM is around 12,000 and it climbs like it has a ticket to the stars.

I did a few other mods, but the main one was not really a mod but I am using dual aileron (per setup) but two separate channels for the ailerons (Spoilerons as Airtronics puts it). Added 4-40 hardware and it is solid as a rock.

Just finished a SIG Four Star 40. Put an Evolution 40 and have yet to fly it (weather problems here). Can't wait to put it in the air.

Let us know how the Spoilerons work. In JR lingo, I believe that they use the term Flaperon.

As far as the CG issue, I am still at 4 1/2". Now that I lightened it up some, it seems a bit more responsive to the elevator. I am just afraid to get it too far to the rear. I don't know from experience what happens when there is too much weight aft..... I understand it is disastrous. What I really need to work on now is getting rid of some of the height of the hedgerow on the north approach. I got it stuck on the high spot 2 times day before yesterday, on the way in. @#$@. I would have flown again yesterday, but I had an open house to go to f or one of the high schoolers, and by 1800, it's too dark out to set up and fly anymore. Of course, today I got home early, to enjoy the rain.....

Bingo, yes the mains are built into the wing. They are glassed in using 3/4oz cloth. The plane seems very happy this way. To force a nose over the planes needs to be at a extreme angle. The trim scheme is in monokote and has been sealed at a very high temp. The canopy is not attached yet just placed on for photos. I will epoxy it when the time comes, not sure if its staying clear yet.
My Tiger has been moving along slowly but will most likely maiden with skis on this winter. Sailplanes tend to get finished frist in my shop.
