Default How do you remove a control surface??

In another thread they were talking about recovering a plane but you needed to remove the control surfaces to do so,,

the control surfaces on my model are pined and glued,

the pins i got out by pushing them through to the other side and pulling them out with some pliers..

so how do you safely"" remove the hinge when its glued in securely with epoxy.

i dont mind buying new hinges and stuff but I dont feel i have the skills (yet) to start makiing new control surfaces if i have to smash them to get them off,.

Any ideas (of course you do)

Rather than remove them, you could just cut them off flush with a razor, then when it's re-covered, replace the hinges with Robart Hinge Points

You should be able to get at the hinge pins. Use a fine tip needle nose pliers or possibly a hemostat to pull the pins.

When you recover/refinish the model just work around the stubs of the hinges.

Depending on the condition of hinge pins (cottor pins ) you can reuse them or use new ones when reassembling.
