red one is Sig Kadet MK II, an excellent trainer (with assistance)and any 40 size motor. this is a 40 size plane. any modern 4 channel radio will work. best if you have buddy box as well.the King Kobra should definetly be put aside until 2-3 other planes later.(Ugly stick,Four Star skytiger etc) it designed as an ADVANCED aileron plane -fast &quick for a good 60 motor, but actually forgiving more so than many of its type.excellent windyday flyer.

My Feedback: (1)
Newtoplanes10, Dude both those planes look to be in very rough condition. Find a club and have an experienced builder inspect and advise you on repairs. The Red one apears to have structural Dammage (crushed) at the trailing edge right by the rubberband dowel. Also there is a supicious bump/ wrinkle in the covering on the right wing pannel that suggests a broken rib/ spar or somthing. The Blue plane on the right is a disaster waiting to happen color wise. It's a fast pattern type flyer in one color (a bad combination that will cause loss of orentation and a crash). Essentialy if it were my plane I would recover the thing in a scheme that you can actualy see in the sky. You would probably be better off (spend less money) buying one of the complete trainer ARF's (Nextar, Avatar etc) than trying to get those two birds off the ground. Save them as future projects.
Just my opinion

I agree with raggman, get an experienced RC'er to look things over. there may be some crash damage or wear /tear needing attention.by this time the fuel tank may need refurbishing too. lines can soften/rot. otherwise the Kadet should do you well. theKougar-- all solid color not at all good for orientation. recover or ad lots of yellow/orange. blue, silver, chrome, light blue very hard to see properly.its going to be some time before you put this one in the sky by your self so you have time.
