Jim,

We are actually talking offline right now on ways to help you out. If anyone wants to help us out getting Jim a setup for his kids, the suggestion has been made that possibly an RTF setup would be in order so donations would be great and can be sent using Paypal to pif @ rcuninverse.com (remove the spaces between the @ symbol). I'm thinking the Nexstar RTF setup would be nice in the case.

Minnflyer, feel free to get into the conversation Ken and I are having on this one...

I'd like to add to what Bubbagates had to say. As he said we would like to try and find an RTF setup to get out to him. But if we can't maybe we can put something together. If anybody has a trainer kit available I would gladly volunteer to build it up. I do have a Magnum .40 size motor that I will donate to go on a trainer. If we could get a radio as well then I can get the entire rig to an RTF state and ship it out to them.

jents I have some thing I might be able to contribute to the PIF dealy. When I first got my LT-40 I put a TT 42-gp in it. it was not a lot of power for a big hoss like the lt so I thought I would replace it with a more power full motor, I bought a OS la-46 engine and plane has a smiggen more power now [:@][:'(]. any ways the .42 gp is now sitting in a zip lock with after run oil in it not being used. I plan to buy a BB remote needle valve motor for my 2nd plane and was thinking of some thing to do with the gp. can any one put this engine to good use in a trainer?? it is low on power but is in the right range for a .40 sized trainer. the engine has been taken care of and I will not lie it has been in 2 crashes. still runs with good steady idle and no vibration so nothing apears to have been bent and will start immediatly with proper primeing.
it would pull a nextstar or tower trainer really good. any takers? id practically give it away, even got a engine sized box for shiping.

Ok, as of 10 PM (central time) this is where we stand on helping Seebee out. We have a radio (4 channel futaba skysport) and 4 futaba servos for this project. We have 3 engines offered up, a Magnum 40, Thunder Tiger 41, and a Webra 50. Now all we need is a plane. I will gladly offer to build a trainer kit if anybody can scrape one up. Since we have the radio and motor we can get the plane out to Seebee in RTF fashion, so all he would need to do put the wing on, charge the batteries, and fly. Hopefully somebody out there can help here.

Thanks in advance.

New to this forum but have been looking around for awhile now.
Accidentally came across this thread while reading different post and just gathering some good R/C info for future use.
Amazing some of the great ideas people come up with, things I never would have thought of.
This PIF thread rates among the top.
Time for me to jump in so I sent RCKen a list of small items that might be of use in some of the repairs he does for some of the items that are sent out. I'll ship to him when I get an address.
Keep it going everyone

Airscooter,
Yes yes yes!! Those items will come in very very handy while repairing items for the PIF. They will be greatly appreciated.

Ken, you said you had a radio. Do you already have a receiver? If not, I think I can send one. I also have a few servo's if needed. Let me know.

Digger44,
For the plane for Seebee1 we have a Futaba Skysport 4 channel radio that we are going to use, and we have the receiver and 4 servos to use on this plane. But if you wanted to donate servos and/or receiver to the PIF we would gladly hang on to them until they are needed. We just sent out a set of servos to somebody about a month and a half ago. If you want to donate them please let me know and I'll get you my shipping address.

Thanks in advance.

Everyone,

I wish to thank all of you for all the donations lately. As the starter of this thread and the PIF idea it overwhelms me to see all of this giving. At times when I'm feeling a little down in the dumps I come in here and read this thread and it always lifts my spirits.

I also would like to send a great big thanks to RCKen, since he has gotten involved we now can supply graphics to those who donate to the thread, he takes crashed, donated planes and rebuilds them for donation back to others and just generally helps me out immensloy when I canot be here. So thanks Ken for all you do.

I do have a PIF web site going but I need pics for it. If you can take pics of anything that you are donating please do and send them to [email protected]. I will se to it they get posted.

The site address is

http://www.rc-pif.com

There isn't much up there yet but it's growing slowly.

Yea Ken, I think I will, send me the address and I'll post later the specs on what I have. Not sure right off the top of my head, but I know I have receiver and some servo's to spare.

I have a unique request for someone close to Amherst, WI

We have a member named Skynyrd Man and he made the following statement to one of us (Skynard Man, Bruce tattled on you)

I have not been doing any flying, it finally got beat into my skull that I don't have enough experience to land on my little field (to many repairs). So I need to find a longer field or join a club, and joining a club is out of the question with gas prices the way they are.
Oh well, maybe next spring I can get back in the air.
This gentlemen has a private piece of land with his own runway that is small as he calls it, He has a disability that makes it hard for him to get to a club field. He has been trying and trying to get flying nailed down and needs someone to help him.

If you can help him please let us know in here and PM him. Sometimes it takes a little while for him to respond but he will respond

Hi there everyone. It's time for a PIF update. Back in post #649 RCU member Seebee1 asked the PIF if they could help him out with getting some kind of trainer set up. From the generosity of RCU and PIF we now have all we need to get Seebee1 and his kids started in the world or RC. We have a complete (radio, receiver, and servos) Futaba Skysport 4 channel radio for the plane. We have a Webra 50 motor for the plane. We also had one RCU member purchase a Sig LT-40 kit and the monokote needed to cover it with. Now with all the parts I will live up to my promise, I'm going to build this plane for Seebee. I plan to get to the point that when he unpacks it all he will need to do is charge the batteries, strap the wing on, put fuel in it, and fly.

I think that most people here on the PIF also follow the beginners thread. I'm going to use this plane for putting together a build thread, so everybody will be able to follow the build as it progresses. I encourage everybody to follow the build and post any comments or questions you all may have.

Once all is done, we're going to get this plane into the hands of a very deserving person who has served his country with honor.

Thank you to all the members that have helped get this project together and off the ground.

Ken

Ken

I received the graphics you sent and wanted to thank you.
They will look really great on my field box but I will wait a little longer before I put the PIF graphics on my planes, mostly due to the limited life span of my present aircraft. Getting better though.
Glad to hear you have some use already for the parts.
The build thread you started is awesome, now I want another kit.

Keep it going guys and ladies too
