windspeed forcast!!
#2
Afraid that wouldn't help much at our field. I have observed flags on the road to the field flapping straight out. This is only about 1 1/5 km away. The wind at the filed is barely being moved by the light breeze. When you get such big differences so close together, how can you predict what field conditions are going to be like?? Therefore if I want to fly, I take out at least 2 different types of planes. I make sure that one of the planes can fly well in windy conditions and the other can be anything else.

No they don't give me a 3 day forcast but why do you need one? If I wanna fly I don't wanna plan on flying 3 days from now I wanna fly now. Plus a forcast is just that....a guess. At the airport it's real time.

A forecast is just a guess of what the weather will be like in the near future based on current data. When I fly full scale, I don't even get a forecast until fewer than 6 hrs. before the flight. The TAF (Terminal Aerodrome Forecast) is usually pretty accurate. TAF's are renewed every six hours (at the 12's and 6's). Valid times are GMT.
Link to TAF's:

Type in nearest airport identifier and click "Get TAFs and METARs". If anyone would like to know how to decode TAFs and METARs, ask and yee shall receive.

Out here a calm day is anything under 20mph. If you don't fly in the winds of Wyoming, you don't fly.
