Has anyone ever tried to mount Roman Candles on the wings of your plane??!?!...
YOu would have to have a wick that is very long and i guess be flying slow enough for it to be able to launch.
What are your ideas to soup up a trainer?!?!
Thank you in advance i enjoy coming here and talking.

Of course i am a redneck!!!!... But do you think that if your wick is long enough and you were flying slow enough do you think it would look really cool!?!?! Don't be so straight laced...let your hair down a little bit...i am building a lanier stinger 40 for the sporty side and if i could come up with a way to not mess up the plane i would do it on that one..

It's against the AMA safetey rules and would more than likely get you banned from any field you flew at.
If you fly alone, make sure you have a cell phone close for calling 9-1-1

there are commercial smoke bombs availible that work just fine to give smoke trails , so lighting a fuse will work. can also be done electrically. rocket motorsmounted under the C/G have been used in the past for JATO take offs. you will be violating the AMA safety code however.

I'm glad your 2 states away LOL...I can see the headlines now.... "Local redneck responsible for massive forest fire" ..the Forest Sevices first question was "how did you start 10 fires at the same time?",... just buy the smoke bombs man...fellow redneck...Rog[8D]

I'm feeling a serious urge to "curse, flame, degrade, insult or embarrass" In the words of Bugs Bunny, "What a maroon". The general public will see this one thing and think we're all arsonists. Lock this one down if you want, moderators, but that's how I feel.

What happens to the recoil when the candle lights and sends out the little balls, can you say uncontrollable.
I'm all for having fun but what a lame brain idea especially doing it during a low pass or even at all. I can see it now turn right hand onto final from the right, misjudging the fuse timing and instant burnt person once the candles light. Turning left hand onto final can still produce the same results.
I hope someone can make him see the light
This kind of thread should be locked down and deleted and the local authorites notified. Flame me if you want but that's how I look at this. What a public relation nightmare for the hobby let alone RCU and we won't even discuss the safety of it as it should not need any discussion
BTW...I just sent this thread to the admins for their opinion and suggested banning the original poster

I would like to state for all that this practice is against AMA policy and will void your insurance.

I think he already made it clear that "he don't need no stinkin' insurance" although he could make it a lot harder for us to keep ours. I kind of agree with PiperChuck, this has some definite Darwinian consequences, and would be a great candidate for the next award. Mentality such as this falls in the same category as sticking your finger in the prop to see what happens. I know the exchange of ideas on this forum is encouraged, but it's time for a reality check if this is in the least a serious consideration.

just make sure nobody sees you. i would do the same but i don't have anywhere to fly thats not at a club and fireworks are illegal in brentwood. also, ive started too many fires with fireworks, so make sure there is green grass or dirt everywhere. you could try sparklers if you don't have a deserted, fireproof area (i.e. the desert). if you wanted a crazy plane try model rocket motors with electric ignition, but trainers aren't meant to go fast so it probably wont work. you could also do what mr happy crash did.. put norwegian fireworks inside the plane and watch it explode in the air. don't have too much fun

tman, in case you couldn't read between my lines, I think this is a stupid idea. You are likely to start a forest fire, injur yourself or someone else, burn your plane to pieces, and cause negative publicity for R/C flying. If you were seriously considering this, don't do it. If you were trolling, find a more adult way to get attention, perhaps by helping other people.

While the Roman Candles are still 'verboten', the new 2005 AMA Safety Code now is better written and DOES allow those devices that burn producing smoke, plus rockets up to G size that are firmly attached to the airplane during flight.
