HI!
Flown the real thing eah.... but haven't flown R/C....And you are going to try it out on your own?????!!
You must be joking!!!![8D]
If you try your self you will crash immediately...well maybe 10 seconds or 15 ..but you will eventually crash!
What you shall do is to get in touch with a R/C club and get help from an instructor
Regards!

You can try to look up more on the AMA site. www.modelaircraft.org
use the club locator section. You can use your knowledge of your area or Yahoo Maps to figure out distances. Good luck. Time for me to go home for the night.

closer LHS? Not likley. I used horizon hobbys shop locator to "search" for hobby shops in MO. and this area is pretty secluded. the shops are all located in springfield and surounding area and branson. they indicated a shop in joplin but I don't think they are any better than the springfield one. Im really better off ordering for horrizon or towerhobbies web sites.

I guess there is always Kansas City. Might make a nice weekend trip for you and girlfriend. Kill 2 birds kinda deal? They always like to go places. Anyway, that's just just for LHS. You have Stockton not too far for a club. You should be able to make do for a while. That moving IS sounding better.
Tower and Horizon are OK too, just keep a note pad handy and list things you think you want. Group it together to keep shipping costs down.

just called that club and they sound nice. they don't fly to often but it sounds like they are nice and they say there is a guy in town who likes to go flying as well. So if they get a good day to go flying they will call and I will prolly head off to hang out with them.
