Default CG test

To check for center of gravity, my assembly manual says nothing about putting fuel in the tank. I am building an Alpha 60, the tank is in front of where the center of gravity should be. Do you fill the plane with fuel, it's about 12 oz tank.

Nope. Fuel tank empty. Yes, the plane will be nose heavy with a full tank of fuel, but you want to ensure that it dosen't become tail heavy as the fuel burns off. So empty tank. Retracts retracted (when you get that far). Should hang exactlly level or just slightly nose down. Tail down is BAD! Nose heavy planes fly badly, tail heavy planes fly once.

I think the Superstar select MKII 60 CG is at 3&5/8" back from the leading edge
as the starting point...

newbtoRC: Not knowing your plane I can't say if 3" is right or not. Either in your instruction book or on Hobbico's website you'll find the CG listed. If your plane balances foward of the required CG, as long as it's not more than 1/2" foward, you'll be fine. More than 1/2 " and you will want to think about moving your receiver battery aft. Get the balance point as close to the CG as you possibly can.
