Default pitts-style muffler?

Hey!

I was looking at many planes saying that they require a pitts-style muffler. now inm confused, is that something that normal engines have or do u need to buy it? or what? lol, THanks!

It is a muffler that was originally designed to go on a Pitts Special biplane. The engine is mounted sideways and the muffler hangs below the engine. It has 2 exhaust stacks extending downward.

The popular aftermarket brands are Slimline and Bisson. Tower & other mail order places carry them for many engines. Here is a picture of a Bisson.
