Do you want glow or electric. a Good glow plane is this one and it comes with all components except, Fuel, Fuel pump glow plug and such

All you need now is fuel and your ready to go

Finally, someone newer than I am......

Good luck!! This hobby is well worth the time and effort it takes to get started. I am still learning and it's just getting to be lots of fun. There are many good starter kits, but the one you chose will depend largely on your budget.

Find the Canadian equivalent of the AMA and go to a field, there is likely one in your area or within a short driving distance. Many clubs will allow you to try for free. If you find a club you like in your area, join it and ask the advice of the club members. They will be experienced in the local area with regard to availability, local knowledge and familiarity with different planes and radios.

Most clubs offer instruction for free. Do not try to fly a glow-powered plane without an instructor. You could seriously injure yourself or someone else. There are some inexpensive park flyers, but even then you should not try to fly without an experienced person to help you.

This is a great hobby. Relax and enjoy!!

Go with what agexpert said. If for some reason there is no club in your area and you have absolutely no choice but to try and learn on your own, then electric will probably be your best bet.

Electrics fly a lot slower than glow planes, BUT, and this is a big but, the majority of electric TRAINERS do not like wind much over 3 mph because they are so light weight.

If you have to do it yourself, I would suggest something like the EasyStar
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFXV0&P=0 Cost about $180 US complete ready to fly - all you need to add is 8 AA batteries for the transmitter.

It is a foam plane (practically indestructable) that is a cross between a sailplane/glider and an electric powered plane. These are easy to fly and if you do need to make a repair, packing tape or some 5 minute epoxy and toothpicks will do the trick. Do not use CA on foam planes unless it says "Oderless" or "Foam Safe" on the bottle - regular CA will disolve foam.

Another Canadian eh?? Check out Great Hobbies. They are close to you and used to be called East Coast models until they expanded out west, then the name would sound silly. They are very good to deal with with great prices. Some times their price in Canadian $ is cheaper than listed in US $ at Tower Hobbies! Our Canadian equivelent of AMA insurance is called MAAC. Its about $50.00/yr. If you have MAAC and tell Great Hobbies, then shipping is free if the order is over $100.00. YOu have to tell them every time though, they won't automatically give you the free shipping. Learned that the hard way! Cheak out the link below.
