Hi, You know how with alot of aerobatic planes the mid wing style planes like the SSE come together and held together with a pole and a little rubber band thing. Well anyway, With my SSE thats how it is and 4 some reason I cant trust that or can I? I feel that when I do a roll with a lil wind that thing is going to seperate cause the rubber band wont hold the wings together. What should I do or is it Fine?

Will be just fine. In flight there is not much force trying to slide the wing off of the joiner tube. On the other hand, there is an air load (force) on the front of the wing pushing on it which causes it to bind on the tube (friction). Don't you really think that if this was a problem that something would have done about it a loooonnnnnng time ago? Huh? Follow the instructions and all will be fine. Do a search if you want and see if anyone has any improvement ideas for the plane in general. Examine ALL ideas carefully before implementing them. The people who design these things know what they are doing(as a rule).

Hey Bruce,
THanks alot. Yea thats what I was thinking. I heard nothing but good things about this plane and never heard a complaint about this. I just want to make sure 100% I dont want anything comming apart in the air.

NJ,
Trust me, the rubber band is plenty enough to hold the wings together. I use a zip tie to hold my wings together because I transport my plane assembled so the wings stay on my plane for weeks if not months at a time. One time while working on it in the pits I forgot to replace the zip tie and took off. On a pass over the field a friend mentioned that something didn't look quite right, so I landed. Once on the ground the "not quite right" was the right wing section sliding off about 1/2". I was lucky to not lose it, but the point I'm making is there isn't a whole lot of force to pull the wings off of the tubes. Use a rubber band and you'll be just fine.

I didn't mean to imply to fly without something to hold them together. Sorry if I gave that impression. [

I didn't take it that way at all. I was just trying to point out that there isn't that much stress in that direction. that's all I was trying to point out. PLease don't take my comments as an endorsement of flying without something to hold them together, you need something there.

No, don't fly without the elastic band. I tried it and I wasn't as lucky as RCKen.
One wing said goodbye just after takeoff and the plane did the fastest roll I have ever seen.
Managed to fix up the damage though.

I do the same as RCKen, but do not leave mine assembled during travel to and from the field. I use 1 #64 rubber band doubled, and then add a zip tie that I cut off after flying. I am sure the rubber band is enough, but once the zip tie is in place, I never even think about it again. To me the plane is more valuable than the cost of replacing the zip tie each time.

however.... make sure that you sand the inside of the metle hooks. if there are any burs from the factory the rubber band will break and then you could have wing seperation in a roll.... i have a SSE and its a great plane... half the time i cant even get the wings of when i want to... dont worry about it its designed to handle the load.
