Default I'm back and I need a plane

I posted in the crash section by mistake somehow. Sorry if you see this twice.

Maybe some of you remember me. I was always the underdog and take sides with the minority which didn't make me a lot of freinds... which I totally indend on avoiding so don't worry. Anyway I've been gone because all my RC stuff was stolen from my garage and I was pretty upset with the whole thing. 2 6-channel radios, 3 complete planes (Cub, Shrike, Fun-51), 4 other engines, etc, etc, etc. I'm pretty sure I know who stole it but I can't prove it so I'm screwed, but it's ok because I'm over it. It's summer and I want to fly again but I can't spend a lot of money.

Requirements:
Has to be gas.
10 - 25 size. 10 would be prefect.
Slow trainer like flight even though I'm far from a beginner.
Very basic aerobatics.
Land on gravel or grass.
ARF, RTF or kit is fine.
Something that won't stress me out.
Even a non-aileron plane would be fine.

Mike,
Glad to see you here again. I was never offended by your posts. Even if I didn't always agree with them, you gave pause to think at times.

Not sure what to suggest for a plane in the 10 size range, but you might want to look at the Herr Engineering Cub. Balsacraft makes some decent kits too, but not sure what you'd find.

Good luck, and welcome back.

Mike, put what happened and what you are looking for/need in the Pay It Forward forum (at the top of the Beginner's forum ).

You will most likely get a plane and some equipment - it will probably be used, however, it will be highly useable and it will allow you to get the other stuff you need with the limited funds you do have.

Hey I didn't see that Pay it Forward. That's a wonderful topic. I'm not rich but I can afford a new plane and equip. Just can't replace everything I had all at once.

Well, just tell people what you need. You would be very suprised at what equipment you get.

The trouble is the larger planes are easier to fly than the smaller ones. A 10 sized plane is gettting pretty small and might have trouble handlying grass runways. I would think you should consider at least a 30 size plane such as the World Models Rambler 30. Thats still small enough to haul around and big enough to fly well. Another plane that gets good reviews for a small planne is the Phoenix Models Sonic 25. Its an ARF and is around $75.00 at Tower Hobbies. [8D}

i have to agree whole heartedly with fastsky. i think the Rambler 30 is a great plane. it's gentle enough for easy flying. i've had two. the first i have away when i moved but the second i am currently flying with a 52 fourstroke. i love it.

but if you're looking for something smaller, i would recommend my avatar, the world models cub 26. i had mine with a 30 fourstroke and love it. it was such a lovely sight to see it bank after take off or come in for a low pass. yes it has all the terrible ground handling of a cub but it is such a wonderful plane. sold that too when i moved and in the process of building a new one.

i think 25-30 is the right size... anything smaller would be less fun to fly.

Big planes vs. small planes is largely subjective, IMO. Properly designed small planes are no harder to fly with modern micro equipment than larger planes, the only major difference is in perception. They appear faster and twitchier compared to a larger plane at first, but as long as your eyesight's decent, it's not a problem. If however, your eyesight is lacking, bigger planes are indeed better for you. Most of my current fleet is under 36" wingspan, and none are really 'hard' to fly. As a matter of fact, the 24" span Clancy Ladybug I fly is as stable as my 63" Kadet once properly trimmed, and it's very docile on low rates, but on high rates it's the most fun plane I own! Personally, I think approximately .15-.25-sized planes are ideal in cost/fun ratio. Just my two cents.

I would consider giving you a plane just to keep you from a repeat performance in the threads I post in.[sm=rolleyes.gif]

Don't worry, even though I feel strongly about some things I don't have the energy for any more heated, mature discussions. Childish one liners is about all I can muster.

Ok price sensitive flyer to the rescue (as opposed to el cheapo flyer to the rescue)

1 Plane I recommend world models skyraider mach I trainer like if you don't trust your thumbs or skyraider mach II for US $80.00
Radio take your pick i'ld get an Airtrinics VG6000 for US$ 170.00
Engine ild suggest an os46 LA for US $ 70 or a supertigre .45 for US$ 65

Total : US$315 dollars and all brand new

no thanks necesary

Sig Kadet Jr. Stress free, but fun. Lands on a dime. Needs a 20 to 25.
