This is the most recent email that was sent to me.......sound like a fraud? Does to me !!

Thanks for your prompt response and acceptance but there is a little problem about getting the payment to you.I would have loved to wire the funds via western union money transfer but the funds on my credit card is insufficient and do not have access to recharge it due where I am now.I am presently in Belgium on documentary research in GOTHEN SAVANAH LOCATION and I need the above said for a purpose that will make my research a comprehensive one.
Immediately I saw your reply,I thought of a way out and thank God it works.I emailed my associate that is presently in Belgium and he assured me that he will help me to wire you the funds b ut anothe! r problem! that we are going! to encouter is lack of cash at the moment. He suggested a MONEY ORDER to me and am very sure that you will honour it.So,kindly let me have your details such as as your FULL NAME that will be printed on it,YOUR POSTAL ADDRESS and YOUR PHONE NUMBER.
One more thing,I am still going to ship the above to my Location here in Belgium and presently,I have not seen a reputable shipping company that will handle that for me.I would have loved to give the work to an United State shipping company but learn't that Belgium Goverment doesn't welcome an International Shipping Company to convey Goods to their country.I am yet to find one and when I contacted a realiable Belgium person to enlighten me more about this,he made it known to me that The cost of shipping is highly expensive in Belgium which I don't mind due to the profit am going to make after finishing compiling my research.I am told that ! they don't als! o accept an internation Check due to the long clearance on it.Instead, the most preferable me thod of payment to them is Western union money transfer. Now I have told you about my Lack of funds and the same thing applies to my associate that will post your own payment to you.Although,I have discussed it with him to help me with the western union issue to the shipping company here in Belgium, but soonest he will be leaving United State for a conference as well and won't have enough time to see to this.He then brought a nice Idea which I abided with.He said he will be inflating the amount on the check to $3,000 whereby you will deduct your own cost and help me to transfer the remaining $2,425 to the shipper for the payment of their services.I am little bit disturbed about this because Firstly I don't know you.secondly, how do I have the trust that you will help me send the remaining funds to the shippers.I would be very happy if could w! rite back and let me know! that you will not b! etray me couple with you details that will enable you receive the payment from my associate.I a m sorry if am too harsh but everything should be handle with care.
Thanks.
Jake.

That's a scam pure and simple. I pray to God that you didn't give him your banking account information for western union. If so, you need to have that stuff changed RIGHT NOW. All he needs is the routing number and account number of your account and you are done. Report him immediately (although it will probably do no good at all).

If you want to louse the guy up, tell him "No problem. As soon as the bank check/cashier's check/etc clears the bank AND IS VERIFIED AS NOT BEING STOLEN OR A FORGERY, I will ship the product along with a check for the balance."

I doubt you will ever hear from him again.

Then proceed to sell the item as you normally would.

Yep a scam. The "profit I stand to make from my research" is the $2425 he is fixing to recieve from you. You cash the counterfeit money order or check and send the $2425 to the "shipper". Then the cops come looking for you and you are left holding the bag by having to make the $2425 good. I've seen this one many times in different variations. Sadly a lot of folks fall for it.

Ha, ha - the 419 type scam. I can really see this individual flying RC. REAL deals are done with short messages and no weak excuses.

Yep, I agree with you all. I didnt send any money and am not going to either. He e-mailed me again today and asked if I would pull the airplane from the advertisement page and consider it "sold". I had to kinda laugh about the emails because it seems kind of strange anyone would actually fall for this kind of scam but I guess some people do. Thanks for the input and beware of this guy sharking on RCU.

I've seen this scam more times than I can even count. I'm glad that you recognized it as a scam and didnt' get taken in by these people.

I know there isn't much that can be done about them, but I'd sure like to find a way to get them some how. How about telling him it's a deal and go through the process. But instead of shipping them the item, ship a box filled with rocks. Or maybe filled with dead rats. Or maybe cockroaches!!!

Tell him you will handle the shipping, tell him you can get it much cheaper as you have contacts. All you need is is his name, address and bank account info for the shippers to bill him.
Bet you never hear from him again. Might as well screw with him and waste his time.

Well the write up does mention money order. Tell him to send you one of those and you can go from there. If no money order shows up, then no deal!! [8D]

Sorry to hear that this guy is an RCU member. RC seems to be a new area for these scammers. It used to be motorcycles shipped to the UK. The most amazing part is that so many people buy into this malarkey. Guy in Phoenix just got stuck for $7800 on a truck deal. He complained and all he got was his picture and name in the paper. I'd be too ashamed to let everone know I got suckered.

There was a thing on TV. Perfectly counterfeited money orders . They send them to you. You send the merchandise. Then in about 6 weeks, the bank figures out the account on the money order is bogus and then deduct the amount out of your account.

I see this all the time in my business. One very good rule of thumb as well. NEVER do a deal on a money order or cashiers check unless you can call the bank and verify funds. They are counterfeiting all of these items now and you MUST verify funds in on all payment types.
