I have been flying electric for about a year or so, and i have flown a gas plane twice. But now im starting work on a SPAD plane and i want to know about servos and crystals are - i basically know what they are, but i want to actually understand their purpose and stuff so that i know what im doing when i start building. does anyone know where theres a good site that explanes? Maybe with alot of pictures...everyone loves pictures!
Any, if you know of a site please let me in on it.

There is a beginner's guide on my web page. It will answer the questions that you have asked. If you want a better understanding of how a radio system works, there is an article that covers that also. A third article covers how a buddy box system works. The combination of these three articles should answer all your questions and a lot of questions that you don't know to ask.

for your spad, you'll need basically four channels (servos). One for the rudder, one for the ailerons, one for the elevator, and one for the throttle. Servos are little electric motors that move control surfaces and other things that need to move. They are hooked to a receiver that receives signals from your radio. The receiver and radio have to be on the same channel to talk to each other. this is where the crystal comes in. Whatever channel your radio is on, you'll need to purchase that crystal for your receiver. Normally, a flight pack will come with one standard seven or eight channel PPM receiver, and four standard servos. They run about 100 dollars. The crystal for your receiver will cost another 10 bucks or so. Hope this helps some, I really couldn't tell what you wanted to know exactly.

I appologize, my post was rather confusing.
I know what things are - IE - a servo controls the controls, reciever gets the message from a radio, all this stuff...But when i try to think of how they work together i get a blank. I fi was to try and put all that stuff into a plane right now i wouldnt have a single clue what im doing. I jsut need a explination of how to put them together, and what all i need to have a full airplanes worth (4 channel).
Its a little hard to explain, i know what the stuff is, but i dont know how to apply it. Like i said if i could have a site that has diagrams or how to put them togeth that would really help.
And thanks for trying to understand me ^.^
