Just thought I would share a couple of pics my wife took tonight of me flying at my field. This was all old farm field last spring but looks pretty good now don't you think.

Here's our field. The trees in the photo are actually a lot farther away than it appears. The land is owned by a corporate pilot who enjoys flying models. He let's us fly anytime we want to.

Dolsen, so this is your own personal private field? What luxury!!! Looks great! How much time do you need to spend keeping it like this? That's one advantage of dirt and asphalt -- it doesn't grow!

Only about 2 hours a week and yes it's mine all mine!
It was a lot of work first I sprayed the whole area with weed killer in the spring. Once all the grass and weeds were dead I burned it off. Then I had to cut out the brush and dig out the roots on a few. Lastly I dragged it for days with my four wheeler until I had removed all the burned/dead grass and it was smooth. I did roll it a few times this spring when the frost went out but all n all it's pretty smoth.

I had to start my field by dragging an 8 foot I - beam behind my bronco. I borrowed a tractor and brush hog from a neighbor and chopped the knock down up. It ended up taking 2 years of rolling with an 800 lb. roller to get it smooth enough to take off and land on. I can appreciate the work that goes into putting even a simple field up. The tree in the above picture with the 2 guys standing with backs to the camera and the Tiger on ground is a Box Alder. It was just a twig that I missed when I was dragging the field. I am kind of glad now that I left it there to keep growing, yesterday it was 94 degrees and humid, but fairly nice in the shade of that little tree. If you have Realflight, you can download the field from their website, the fence at the one end of the runway and the hedgerow at the other end of the runway makes for some interesting landings, especially if you vary the wind. Hence the name "Bingo Field". You have all sorts of space to fly over, but to land, the trees nearby and the obstructions at the ends of the runway can cause some pucker factor when it gets windy.[8D]

I know the feeling. Just 4 ft off the right side of my strip there is a three strand fence one electric two barbed. My sister-in-law wanted more room for her horses so she fenced the 20 acers of field next to me.
