Yep, after months of parkflying with my AB Challenger, a hundred (or more) taxis up and down the strip, and more racetracks and figure eights than I can count in a friend's trainer, I did my firs nitro engined takeoffs and landings today. I made about 10 takeoffs and landings and about 10 touch and gos with only one really bouncy landing, one that ended up in the grass and one that ended up too close to the cars in the field (!!!). It was fairly windy too so I am pretty proud and super stoked! The plane is a .40 sized trainer which we think is an old Cadet that has been recovered and repaired a thousand times.
So today as well, I paid a club member for his barely used Hobbistar .60 (very nicely done taildragger mod with and OS .91 and nice servos installed) and have the guys looking for a radio/receiver! Yes, I have the bug, bad!
Man, that was as much fun as I can remember having! It is amazing how exciting/scary/fun it can be when the plane is all yours and the IP has walked to his car!

I know how it is awsome. When i soloed my instructor rewarded me with getting to fly in a Piper Warrior. That was fun.
I would try to get a computer radio if the funds are there. they will ast ya a bit longer

Fiveo,
Congrats on the solo. It's a great feeling. Heck, I bet you still have that silly little smile on your face.
A solo is a special moment and that wins you one genuine RCU ATTABOY (Suitable for framing, wrapping fish, or lining trashcans)

Pretty darn cool! My IP will get a kick out of that! And yes, the smile remains!
Thanks to you other guys as well. This is a great community and I KNOW that reading here has helped me get off to a good start in the hobby!

Congrats!!!! I just got back into the hobby after a 5 year hiatus. Kinda felt like starting over. Flew this past week for the first time, and soloed Thurs. I know how you feel. I was ear to ear for rest of the evening. Even had an unintentional dead stick. Landed fine. Now my next goal is to get my son to solo. He's 8 and is doing really well. Again, Congrats. Keep flying, and enjoy!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Now, let me add a word of caution. Don't be too quick to get a hotter plane. Fly that old Kadet or the Hobbistar until you're THOROUGHLY bored with them, THEN move up. Also, just because you're soloed doesn't mean you HAVE to fly solo. If you walk out to the flight line and ANYTHING doesn't seem just right: sun, wind, your nerves, other planes, etc., ask a more experienced pilot to stand out there with tyou. We've all been through the learning process, and we all understand.
Again, congratulations!
