Default looking to build trainer with gas engine

I'm thinking about putting a small gas engine in a trainer like plane, say something like a kadet senior or telemaster senior,id rather buy a arf and make some changes if neccessary for the motor, like fiberglassing the firewall and reinforcing it.Anyone know of any arf's available were this could be possible,or will i have to buy a kit and go from there, also is there anyone who has done something like this who could give me insight.Thanks.

You mean like a gasoline engine or a nitro (or glow fuel) engine? Theres a big difference between the two...

A buddy of mine at our flying field has what I consider one of the best "sunday flyers" that I have seen in awhile. He has a Sig 4-star 120 with a Zenoah G-26 on it. I've flown it several times and it's a pure joy in the air. And with it being a gasoline engine he can fly for day on 2 bucks worth of gas!!

One of our club members took the old RCM 40 trainer plans and scaled it up to 85 inch wingspan. He powers it with a US41. Foam wings and doorskin fuse. His decals on the wings are "Trainer 40".

I am under the impression that a lot of people have put gas engines on 4* 120’s. The 4*’s certainly fly like trainers. The engine conversion forum has a lot of information.

The big Telemaster would be a good one, but if I wanted an easy flyer that looks great, I'd get the Rascal 110. BIG airplane, saw several this year at Joe Nall with gas engines. I've not flown the big one, but my .40 size (72 inch wing) flies as easy as my Superstar trainer and is a lot more aerobatic. It doesn't look like atrainer, either, more like a '30s monoplane.
