Default g-26 problem

started a brand new g-26 today,it would start right up,but with the choke almost closed, and when you would begin to open the choke the engine would die.Anybody have any idea what would cause this?its getting fuel to the carb,i double checked the fuel tank and lines for leaks,i had some guys messing with adjustments but with little effect.would the diaphram be bad?

Sounds like a bad air leak. The gasket between the carb abd engine could be leaking or actually on backwards, there is a little brass tube coming out of the carb that should be crimped. Sometimes that tube is not completely plugged. Try putting a small piece of fuel hose over the tube and plugging it and see if it gets better.

You may wish to ask this question over in the gas engine forum

How long did you let it run with the choke closed before you opened it? Brand new engine, not warmed up, maybe set too lean on low end or both low and high.....

Does it run rough as long as it is running, or does it do okay as long as the choke is closed? (like normal closed choke running--lot of smoke, gassy smell, won't rev freely, etc)

runs a little rough with the choke closed and when you begin to rev the engine it cuts off.
