Looking forward to it. Nice color scheme, I think I would add some more thin blue in front of the red on the fuselage/tail, just so it matches the top of the wing...
Good idea on the servo hatches in the tail Swager, looks like a neat installation. No real reason to worry about exhaust residue on servos, they're pretty well sealed. I'd be more worried about any bare unfuelproofed wood in the tail section.

Im not too worried about the fuel getting in there...
I mean, if its too bad, ill take some thin weather striping and put around the opening...but i dont really see it as too much to worry about...
I think the pipe faced down and the extender on it, it shouldnt bee too much of a problem. Never know though...Im good at tinkering to fix problems...it it arises, im sure i can take care of it...
In other news...I'll get started on the wing tonight when I get off work (i love my job, my boss just wants 8 hours out of me, and he doesnt care which 8, so i come in at 6:00AM to get off early, plenty of time to build) ... and ill get some pics...
I will probably be pointing out the differences between the 4* and the venture 60....so ill start now with a couple of things right off the back
The webs in the wing are single peices in the 4*s and are individual peices in the venture...no real pro-con other than eas of install, but no biggy
The ribs are almost twice as thick as the ones in the 4*, which i like..in the 4star is was thin ribs, then you overbuilt the rest of the wing to compensate, not a big fan of that...
The sheeting for the wings is all pre-cut (a little sanding, im sure) and are sweet...
The plans are rolled and not folded (BIG HUGE +++ there)
Thats it for now i guess....
Oh yeah, something that really impressed me. There is a bundle of sticks with a peice of paper around them saying "EPOXY MIXING STICKS courtesty of BRUCE THARPE ENTERPRISE" ... i know that they are just peices of scrap, but i think its really cool that he does that...says something about the man/company

I got lots more high-tech epoxy mixing sticks if you want them.... different shapes too.

I have to agree on the plans thing - nothing gets my blood boiling like otherwise perfectly good plans that are folded!!! Arrrgh!

OK, so I got going on it tonight...
Not a whole lot to say, at first i thought i didnt like the way he does the spar webs, but after doing them...i like them a little bit better, multiple peices as opposed to 1 big peice makes it easier to adjust as you go...
Heres what i got....messed up the sheeting on the front a little, so its gonna take some good sanding to get it fixed, and i know, not too much, i wont mess the shape up...

Nope, door is officially my building table from here to eternity....
Plus that foam insulation (which works awesome for holding pins) is permanantly attached now, a nice healthy coating of 3M Super 77 ... it aint going nowhere...

RJM,
cool!!! [8D]
I'll tell you what, if you have a steel door you may want to consider going to magnetic building system. Great Planes sells one for $130, but it's an overpriced plastic piece of junk. I built mine from scratch. RCU member Cafeenman has the instructions on his website, but unfortunately I haven't seen him on here since Katrina hit and I'm afraid he got hammered in that storm. But trust me, it's well worth the effort of putting one together. One of the biggest expenses is the steel for the building board, but since you already have that you're more than halfway there.
If you're interested let me know and I'll see what I can do to get you instructions.

Not a ton done, just got started on the other wing....im still amazed at how quickly this kit goes together, even a beginner could (being careful) get this kit buit, maybe even covered, in a weekend if they really tried...

Ok guys...
Im still alive, so is the build, but the camera isnt...might of had to do with my idea to put it on my stryker...and fly it into a power line...
I have a lens ... thats about it...
THe build is continuing, Fuse is almost done, wings are done except for servo mounts (dual servos) ... tail feathers are done...got alot of sanding, and some serious cleanup on one side of the fuse...an epoxy brush i could have swore made the trash can didnt, and i epoxied my fuse to my building table...no real problem other than getting the epoxy off of the plane...
Hope to start covering next week...and by then have a digi camera to use...

I like your color scheme, I think it will make a beautiful plane. While I realize there are alot of red, white, & blue planes out there, it doesn't matter to me.God bless America!! I'm also a big fan of the transparents. I have a Sig Rascal, an ARF in transparent violet boxed in with white trim and it is very pretty, personally I like to be able to see the structure inside. It's all just a matter of personel choice. Looks like you've allready made a good one.
Swagger, very nicely done, looks like a good installation of those rear servos to me.
Kiswa, I think your color scheme is really hot too, ment to mention it in your build thread, sorry I spaced ya off.
Have fun with your new build, I'm sure you're gonna love it!

I WANNA NOTHER VENTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the color scheme. Mine had clipped wings and a Tower .75 in it. I had standard radio set up and didn't need much weight to balance once I got to playing with the battery placement. Looks great, good luck, wnat updates.
Sorry for the loss of the camera. Bet the stryker came out fine though.

So its been what, like 3 months?
So i've done some more stuff...and will have pics tonight...new camera....
All thats really left is to cover and hinge, and make the mounts for the rear servos.
Im thinking a mix of transparent and solid colors...but im still not sure...
I was about to start a new thread, then i remembered that threads live forever here and just dug this one up...
pics in a few hours, promise!
