Hey guys, I just took the leap into the hobby with the mustang PTS from hanger 9. The plane looks great but I'm having a problem with the flight sim that came with it. It has an adapter for the JR transmitter that goes into the serial port on the computer but I don't have a serial port[:'(] I tried to use a serial to parallel adapter but I can't get that to work either. Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this? Thanks

You will need to add a serial port to you system. Any computer shop in your area should have one (or be able to order one if they don't have it on hand). It's a pretty easy install, and if you have Windows XP it will pick it up without any problems. After that you will be able to connect your controller
Hope this helps

I had the same problem. I used a USB to serial port adapter made for PDAs that I bought at Circuit City. Cost $32 but works fine.

That's really wierd that the software with the arrow would come with the USB and the mustang wouldn't[:@] oh well. Thanks for the advice guys. I saw on one of these boards something about connecting through the mic input with some special software, does anyone know anything about that? Thanks

Have you tried the simulator forum?

Also, about providing it with a USB connector instead. There are people without those too, that have only serial/parallel. You just can't satisfy everyone.

Well I got the USB/serial adapter and it works great. A little pricey though, some I'm thinking about calling hanger 9 and seeing if they'll send me a USB type adapter so I can return this to radio shack. I know that most people will have a serial on their desktop, but I guess my point was that every computer made in the last 10 years has USB ports so, you'd think that's how they would send them out. It just seems like it might be kinda random whether or not you get the USB or the serial. Anyways I got it fixed, thanks to everyone that responded[8D]

Also available is a USB / Serial port converter. I believe I have seen them at Walmart. Not too expensive. Good luck.
Way late post, eh?

Don't BOTHER with this sim.
It's AWFUL!
The plane flies as if it's sitting on a large bowling ball, when it rolls.
Grab the freebie FMS instead. Though it's flight model is not fantastic, it does a MUCH better job and you cannot beat it's price.
You can also pick up USB controllers ( which work with and come with FMS ) for $19.00 USD that are powered from your computer.
That way you don't use up the batteries on your SX600.

You got us. There are a half dozen major brands with different versions for each one. Is there a controller laying around with a name on it?
Maybe you could figure a way to quiz him? But write it down so you don't forget. When and where you bought it may help too.
Does this ring any bells? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXVPC7&P=7

We only want to try to help you figure out what it was. As far as obtaining something illegally we cannot do anything for you there.
This will all get erased from this thread if some suggests where to get it illegally.

Not looking to steal a program, just find something he can fly with. Didn't know about costs..the program came with the plane so figured it could be a freebie somewhere. The controller is JR Sport SX600. The plane is a P51 Mustang.

Then there is this one that has a little fuel burning engine on it

Farmgal probably purchased the older P-51 trainer from H9 which came with that simply awful "Cockpit Master" simulator.
I believe the new H9 DXi equipped P-51 does not come with the same simulator... and instead uses a pared down version of FSOne....
Assuming the former, her best bet is to forgo the P-51 sim and grab FMS off the net.

I've been looking on the Horizon Hobby's web site. Apparently they don't have the Mustang with the JR SX600 radio any more.
I suggest you give Horizon a call tomorrow and see what they say.
Product Support: 1-877-504-0233
There's a F22 Raptor that has this radio still listed
