Hello; I don't know about the 10 minutes - but - Your problem is in the carb. Don't dissassemble the entire engine if your problem is in the carb. I sometimes don't even take a plane to the flying field, just enjoy the other benefits of being with like-monded people. Whereever you fly there's probably someone who has had the same problem with that engine and has performed the cure.
If you showed up at our field with this problem, someone (likely me) would solve it for you. Even if you don't get to fly, you would get your problem solved. I think it's the same in the UK as it is everywhere else I've been.

It sounds like you have a blockage or air leak in the fuel system.
1. Check your fuel lines VERY CAREFULLY with the engine running. Do you have any air bubbles ? If you do, pull the tank and replace ALL the fuel lines INCLUDING the ones in the tank. Double check the fuel inlet nipple(s) to the carb and needle valve to make sure they are tight. If they are loose, tighten them and put some locktite around the outside to prevent them loosening up and to seal any gasket leaks. Run the engine. If the problem persists go to step 2.
2. Check the spray bar in the carb. Disconnect the fuel line from the needle valve, and with the throttle wide open, blow through the line. Now do the same thing with the throttle closed. If there is no difference in the amount of force needed, the blockage is in the spray bar. Remove the spray bar and clean it in some fresh fuel or acetone. MAKE SURE YOU DO AN EXACT COUNT OF THE NUMBER OF TURNS ON THE LOW SPEED NEEDLE, it will minimize the retuning of the low end.
3. If the spray bar is OK (or it is still doing it after cleaning it ), move to the needle valve next. Disconnect the fuel line from the tank to the needle valve and put some fuel through the needle valve to flush it out. Make sure the connections are tight for the needle valve and fuel nipples.

rule #1, don't hurry!! i've learned that anytime you hurry with model airplanes you either a) get bit by the prop, or b) crash a plane... next comes the fact that if you don't trust your engine running on the ground, don't take off with it.
what is the history of the engine? has it been broken in? was it running ok before? could be blockage, could also just be really rich.

Luke, since you are fairly new to this hobby I wouldn't take it apart. Chances are you are going to cause more problems than you may fix by taking it apart. My recommendation would be to take the plane to the field and let more experienced pilots take a look at it and see if they can find the problem.

luke21,
If we underestimate you it's because of how you started this thread. You came in here asking for help in 10 minutes or it will be too late. One could assume that since you have so much experience with those 20 engines then you would not need so much help and in such a hurry.
It's like crying wolf if you get my meaning

Really Luke, How do you expect people to take you seriously when you won't even take the time to spell or punctuate your questions?
I realize that some of your spelling is "Internet Lingo" but this is not one of your friend's Blogs, this is a serious site dedicated to sharing useful information. MOST of the useful information you will receive here will be coming from people who are way past their teenage years and don't care to be spoken to in such an undignified manor.
You write incoherant sentences, with grossly misspelled words, and then you wonder why people treat you like a stupid kid.
Wise up! Treat us with the respect we deserve and you will be treated the same in return.

Luke, It amazes me that you felt belittled or put down by RCKen's remarks. It sounded like good solid advice to me. I too had a bit of a miscommunication with Ken in another thread regarding my experience in one area and my lack of experience in another area. I should have explained my situation more clearly to begin with. He was in no way rude or insulting to me! So I tried to explain my situation to him a little more precisely, with no anamosity or ill-will towards him at all. Quite frankly, I was just greatful he bothered to respond. This is not a chat room on Yahoo. You will find that most of the people here are very nice, as well being quite knowledgable. I soak up great information here like a sponge everyday. So ease up a bit and enjoy the site, that what is here for. Mark T.

Charlie,
HAHAHA That's about the 9th thread straight I've visited that I got a good laugh out of your reply! I love it.
Luke,
Check your other thread.. I think I gave you a good bit of advice there from a fellow teen.. The same "rules" apply for the guys on the forum. You remind me of a certain member who USED to be on the forum. I think everyone knows who I'm talking about. Unless your new.
