Whats the diference between useing a 3 blade prop and a two blade prop?
Pro's and cons in useing both types.
I intend to get into scale planes. Moast of the original war planes had three blade props and it would be nice to build the planes that way if its not going to cause too many handling problems

A three blade prop is not as efficient as a two blade. Also, your engine may not have enough oomph to turn a large enough 3 blade to fly the plane. Most full scale warbirds had extra power that had to be absorbed by the prop. Use a static 3 blade for display and a normal 2 blade to fly with. In the air, you can't tell the difference.

check out the twins forum where three bladed props were tried on a twin and perfomance sufferred,so back to the 2 blade.one pro is ground clearence is better because of the third blade most props go down an inch in diameter ,helpful in a multiengine plane.dr1driver is correct on all points.

Three blade props are usefull if you need to transmit more power than the available fit of two-blade props can handle (due to prop diameter limitations), but as noted, they are usually a bit less efficient than two blades.
If you can fit a bigger two blade, that is usually the better choice.

Its my understanding, although not experience, that three bladed props are quiter than 2 blades. So if you're dealing with a noise sensitive field, think about a three bladed prop.
