Hey...I've been flyin a avistar for around 2 years now on and off and im looking for a second plane. Ive talked to some guys at my field and they all recomend the four star. I too have heard good things from the four star. Now my question: Is it possible to go from flying a 40 sized advanced trainer to a 120 sized four star. I want something bigger and have thought about a 60 sized...but i just think it would be cool get a 120...or would it be too much of a plane for a second one. I just want something bigger for my second, and obviously a low wing. Any help would be great
Thanks

I think it is fine to go to a 1.20 sized plane as your next. I would NOT recommend a heavy 120 sized warbird with retracts and flaps, but a 1.20 4-star is fine. Have someone else with big-plane experience go over your completed plane before you fly. They should check for proper servo sizing, battery selection, linkages, etc.

The Four Star 120 will fly well. as a second plane. Just don't forget to buy the fuel buy the case or three at a time. Instead of burning a quart a day you will probably be closer to the three quart a day. The new O.S. 120 ax would probably be a perfect match for the plane. Although a fourstroke would probably work just as well. Possibly someone else would know about a gas burner for it.

The 4-start 120 would be a fine plane for a second plane. First of all the 4-star series are just great stable flying planes. And second larger planes almost always fly smoother than smaller planes. You'll just have to get over the fear of flying a larger plane. We all get it, it's natural to be afraid of flying a big plane, but you'll do fine. As they said above, a larger plane can drink in the glow fuel. A flying buddy of mine has a 4-star 120 and he has a Zenoah G-26 on it, and it's a great flying combo. This is a gas engine that uses a gas/oil mix similar to what you put in your weedeater (basically it is a weedeater motor
). The nice thing about this is that you can fly for a very long time on approximately $3 worth of gas and oil!!
But as far as the plane goes you should be fine with it. Just make sure you are completely comfortable with your trainer. Try flying completely around your flying field inverted with your trainer, and when you can do that without falling out or losing your nerve you should do fine with the 4-star.
good luck
Hope this helps

Bigger planes are more fun to fly ... only one warning, you been be gentle on your landings, big planes will not like to be bounced like smaller 40 sized planes.

I dont float in with mine either...i probably come in hotter than most...but thats just how feel comfortable, and its working so far
