I'm finally getting around to putting my Big Stik 40 together, and I have two engines free to put in it. An OS 46 AX and an ASP 70 4-Stroke. My only flying experience so far has been with my NEXStar, but I'm very comfortable flying that now.

I'll be converting the ARF to a tail-dragger, and hope that will take care of the balancing issue if I go with the ASP which is where I'm leaning now.

I use a Big Stick 40 for an engine break-in plane. I have had the following engines on mine: OS .46AX (2), Evo .46, GMS .47 (2), OS .50SX, Saito .56, Magnum .70FS and a few others I can't remember. All of these pulled it fine. The Mag .70 and the OS .46 were about the same. You can't go wrong with either engine. I did use a 3-blade prop some on the 4-stroke .70, 12-6 & 12-8.

With the .70 is was nose heavy. As a matter of fact, it was nose heavy no matter what I put in it. I put the rudder servo in the tail and used 2-56 rods for tail braces.

Excellent second airplane. Flies in any wind, lands easily, does all the acro except 3D. You'll love it. I do recommend you build the wing at least flat. Anhedral is better. Mine has the dihedral brace flipped over and it still rolls with rudder. (I was in a hurry.) It need 3 degrees on each side to stop roll with rudder like a low wing plane.

I like the pull-pull rudder setup, I think I'll do the same thing since I have read a few reports on here that recommended moving the tail servos to the back. I assume you had to fabricate some kind of servo tray?

What type of brackets do you use for the rudder supports to go with the pushrods?

I also have the Big Stik 60 in a box. I got that first without thinking that since there's not much if any dihedral in the wing, there is no way I could fit it into the back of my Jetta like I can with my NexSTAR wing []. One of my projects for the winter will be putting a hitch on the car and modifying my small utility trailer by adding a hinged cover so I can haul my planes to the field.
