Hey guys, I went today, to my local club, and I was unable to fly because first I need to register in the AMA, but anyway, one of the instructores flew my plane, and is working awesome. therefore, I have a Mustang trainer.
What do you guys suggest me, for my first fly, which is going to be this friday, thanks a lot guys.

On my first flight I had a hard time controlling my legs.....they were shaking so much. Just follow your instructors advise and you will do good.
You will love it..........and don't get discouraged when you crash, we have all done it.

Welcome to RC. If you check with the local club they may have instructors with "Intro" pilot cards. These allow newcomers to fly for 30 days assisted under AMA insurance. I have had this for several years as a club instructor.

Coming back to what dgeorge said, i agree. My legs were shaking so much, i actually had to use alot of muscle power to keep em calm. It was impossible. When i came home, my legs wee dead.

Well my best advice is to smack in good at least once, ( ell thats half the fun).... so you got something to fix, then you'll feel much better the next time, cause you don't have too worry about dinging that cherry new toy!!
... and that'll get you in the other side of this hobby too, patching them up... and they usually fly just fine after some fine tuning patches....my experience about as much time putting them back together as flying.....and just remember.... it just a toy so have fun!!! ... and .gets kinda boring if all you do is fly them. Just be sure to get befores and after!!! Later

One thing I didn't realize when I started flying was that the palms of your hands sweat. It's funny sometimes my left thumb does this uncontrollable twitch. What I really love about flying is the Adrenalin rush.....there is nothing like it except maybe sex.

Rocky4x4, you WILL get ´the shakes´, but the main problem won´t when your legs shake, the main problem will be when your HANDS shake [X(], you want to move the rudder "a little" and before you know it your trainer is dancing Lambada [&o]
You´ll have so much fun dude, but always remembah... better safe than sorry... never EVER forget that
Oh.. and on your first solo... wear a diaper... don´t ask me why i´m telling you

Yes sir, we do.. we have two.. well sort of..
The "official" club/flying field is under construccion outside the city, somewhat big complex with 2 or 3 paved runways, pits area, restaurant, restrooms and all that, BUT in the meantime we fly in an empty space behind a Mall, but no pavement [:'(]
The other club/field is "private", it's owned by some rich dude in the south of the city, and will give entrance mainly to his friends, so I ain't going there, i've heard people kind of look "down" on you, behave somewhat wrecklessly (spelling?) and I don't like that stuff [&o] so I fly with my friends behind the mall
BTW, thanks for the compliments about the city, if you ever pay a visit again let me know and i'll show you around

joesabido, Wow! That sounds like quite the nice flying complex you guys have being built down there. Maybe I should move to Mexico
. By the way, I hate it when my plane does the Lambada!!
Rocky & Chimes, You guys have a great time on your first flights. You will be hooked for life! I don't have alot of advice for ya as I have just recently soloed myself. I guess the best thing I can tell you is to just listen well & let your instructor lead the show. As a Trainer for a major freight hauling outfit I know the hardest thing I encounter with new guys is them trying to impress me that they know what they're doing. I sometimes have to remind them that I can't teach you what you THINK you allready know! You've allready made your choice of an instructor so you must trust & believe that he/she knows what they are doing. So just let them do it, & you will make a great student & learn fast. Good Luck & have FUN!!!

Thanks Mark
What I described is the "long-term" project, it is how people building it want it to be in about 3 or 4 years, they are going slow because it's taking a huge amount of money, and the guys building it (about 6 guys) are not big buck investors, they are just regular people like us who are trying to do something big for this hobby with their own money.
I went to the presentation of the project and it's kindda big, with a racing track for cars, an artificial lake for boats, paved runways, frequency control, restaurant, clubhouse and all that.
The first operational section will be of course the runways (and the restrooms
), everything else will be "on the fly" (no pun intended).
I think they will charge $200 USD a year, and you can go anytime you want, any day.. OR if you don't want a membership you can pay $5 USD any given day to enter and use the location.
I'll shut up now before somebody smacks me for threadjacking

I've had a blast with the Hobbico Nexstar glow trainer. The flyin field is inconvenient to get to and my yard is bout as big as a gymnasium. I want to buy my first electric airplane RTF that I can enjoy at home in my backyard. Which of the available, small, fun, backyard planes do you suggest ? At the present time, I don't think 3-D is for me but I sure like doing touch and goes. Is there anything small that uses four channels like the Nexstar trainer ?
