I am fiishing up my SIG ad i know you should rap the RX in 1/2 foam rubber to protect it from vibration. Should i do the same for the battery pack?

Not at all stupid. Yes, wrap the battery pack, it needs protection from the vibration.

Something else to consider later on. I usually check my CG before I mount the receiver. Then I place it where it will help. Since the battery is much heavier, I save that for nearly last to use as weight to bring the CG in. I may mount the battery in the nose or behind the CG--wherever its needed before adding extra weight

Yes, wrap in foam. I also place the Receiver and Batteries in plastic bags. I do this for two reasons; 1). To protect them from fuel, which tends to penetrait into everything. 2). In the case of the plane going down and becomeing lost for a few days, weeks, months, etc..., it may protect from moisture/rain/weather, until the plane can be found.

Another suggestion for you.

Mount/locate your battery IN FRONT of the receiver OR mount your receiver on top of the battery.

In the event of a hard "unscheduled" landing you really don't want the battery to go crashing into the receiver.
