Default beginner R/C forum question

Ok this is not a beginner R/C question but a beginner R/C forum question. This might be a no brainier but how do you get the cool little pictures under your names? I have loaded several photos in my profile but I can’t get one to show up under my name. What more do I have to do to make this work?

Are you cliking OK at the bottom of your forum settings page after you upload the pic. Also the pic can be no larger than 7Kb and 85X85 pixels. If you are clicking OK, ttry click the apply button then OK

Pa-18cub150,
This is definitely the place to ask questions, even if it's not an RC question it is a RCU question so we'll do our best to get it answered for you. Refer to the attached diagrams for reference.

Step 1. Prepare your avatar picture. Be advised that it has to meet certain guidelines. The file's dimensions cannot be larger than 85x85 pixels and the file size cannot be larger than 7 KB.

Step 2. When you are logged in to RCU at the top of any page you will have a bar of icons (see diagram #1). Choose the icon all the way to the right labeled "Settings"

Step 3. (see diagram #2) In the first section of the settings page you will see the section "My avatar" and click on the "Upload my picture (will replace the existing one).

Step 4. (see diagram #3) Click on the browse button, use the navigation box that comes up to select the image file you want to use as your avatar (remember the size restraints), click open, and then click ok. This will upload your image file to the RCU servers and you should then see it as your avatar.

Hope this helps

Ken

If you use fast reply, I don't think it gives you upload link, top or bottom of thread has post reply, use that, it then will give a link to upload pic's.

Hay RCKen & bubbagates
I see my problem the smallest photo I have is about twice to large. I wish I knew how to shrink photo file size.

Send me the file and I'll shrink it for you. Or post it here and I'll get it and shrink it down for you.

Hay thanks
The one that is currently with my profile is the smallest photo I have. As far as posting photos I haven’t figured that out ether.

Ok, I've resized it for you. Click on the thumbnail below, then when it's opened up save it to you computer, and then use the instructions I posted earlier to upload and change your avatar.

Hope this helps

Hi Guys
With bubbagates’s resized photo I get this mesige:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0035'
File not found
/forum/js/PGDUpload.asp, line 437

With RCken’s resized photo I get a file to large message. It dos fall in the 85X85 parameters, but it is 15.7kb.

Thanks for the effort

I am getting the same run time error with this one as I was getting with bubbagates’s. Might this be attributed to me having a crappey server or could I be doing something wrong when I “save as”

Hi Pa-18cub150
Check to make sure you have cookies enabled and that you do not have any anti-virus programs running. I had the same problems when I tried to put mine on.[X(]

Yeah we have a winner.
I tried Internet express and bubbagate’s first photo worked. RCKen’s last photo still shows a file to large message. Next question how do you guys load images to your posts?
Thanks guys

Hi Pa-18cub150

At the top right of each post you will see " reply- quote- forward" buttons.

Just click on the reply button at the top right of the post you are replying to.

On the next screen at the bottom left of the dialog box you will see the link Click here to upload! .

Type in your message and then click the upload button to insert your pics.

Do not use the fast reply at the end of the thread because it does not have the upload link.

hangar 9's P51 Mustang PTS trainer has evolution's .45 disp engine. Im going to switch it to the high-wing trainer, as my instructors said that, me being a beginner cannot fly it, infact, I flew it but making left or right turn gives it a nose dive, which I was unable to handle it, despite of droops, air brakes and fixed flaps, it is still not a docile plane, so can anyone kindly let me know which size trainer should I buy either 40 or 50 size, so that I can switch servos, engine onto it and start learning.

Thanks

Mody

Hi Mody
You would get more replies on this if you start your own thread in the beginners forum but my suggestion would be any .40 size high wing trainer. A good one for the money would be the Tower Hobbies Trainer 40 (click link below)
