I would say that when you consider all the factors that overall the OS is the best engine. You will get the best balance of power, ease of use, reliability and service with an OS IMO…
…problem is that they are not just a little pricey, they are way too pricey.

Thanks for your comments about Evo .46 engine. It came with P51 Mustang PTS alongwith JR XF421EX radio. I asked about radios which is best futaba or JR so I came to know its the matter of your personal preference, normally the first radio you get, u seem to stick with it. Well, my engine cannot start with stick starter I tried best but it needs some good time otherwise with electric starter and the sound and strenght of it is perfect, it didnt need break-in as it came already with break-in. I learned one thing that for next engine of mine I would go for O.S. first otherwise, Saito, Magnum or Thunder Tiger.
Thank you all
Thank you all

I'm interested in hearing everything, otherwise how can knowedge increase? I have no reason to disbelieve you, but interpreting the data correctly is a key element in gaining knowledge. I'm very interested in the physical problems that you describe & I really want to know how this stuff happens with reputable company.
Maybe it is occurring in North America, where continental size & population may swallow & hide such information, especially if the batch numbers aren't too large.

You won't regret getting a Super Tigre 51. Less weight than ST45 and great price with 3 year warranty. 40 size case. Yes muffler is a little heavy, but so adjustable. Ringed to last longer and easier to start cold.

Aw, you guys don't know nuttin' about engines!
Hands down, the very best engines are GMS!
OK, well, I have a couple of these (a 32 on an LT-25 and a 76 on a 4*60) and they've been OK so far but I guess some have had problems.
This is kind of like the Chevy vs Ford arguement (maybe OS = BMW...)
I have an Evo 46NT on an LT-40 that's worked well...
Maybe someday when I build my "dream" RC plane, I'll spring for an OS 4-stroke.
Until then, I'll just fly cheap planes with cheap engines.

In an attempt not to repeat what everyone else has already said. (though I do agree with almost all of it). There's one brand that has been overlooked in this thread. And let me just say now that if someone did mention it and I missed it my apologies, but I'm talking about Evolution.
Evolution engines are sort of the new kid on the block, but they are producing some fantastic engines. I own two of them and if I ever buy another 2-stroke (parrish the thought) I will be looking in their direction first, although, my 4-strokes are and plan to remain O.S.
You can pick up the Evolution Trainer Power System (which is essentially a .46) for about $80.00. And if you want to know more about it you can check out the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=153]review[/link] by Mike Buzzeo (shameless plug)

I don't think anyone has mentioned Enya engines yet. If you're looking for a lightweight, powerful and long lasting 50 size engine the Enya 50SS is my first choice. They are $120 shipped from MRC. Your LHS can probably order one for you as well.
I personally have had bad luck with two Magnum 46XLS engines. This is not a broad condemnation of Magnum engines, just a single data point.

The 50SS or the 50CX are the best, IMHO.

I have a Four Star 40 with the O.S. .46 AX. This engine runs perfectly, and has excelent starting qualities. It flies my 4* beautifuly, and if quick is what you want, than this is engine is perfect. Just screw on an apc 11x6 and away you go. I run mine with 15/18 powermaster fuel. It idles very nice and will idle even better wiht 15/20. Go for the AX!

I like OS engines. They seem to be reliable & good runners. I also have a Tiger Shark .56 that is a fantastic runner. My Tower Pro .46 however left my buddies Ultra Stik with an OS .46AX in it, in the dust!! He was not real happy as my Tower Trainer blew by him. At full throttle with both engines swinging an APC 11X6 prop I can first catch up to him then walk away from him with good authority.
We're not talking about barely edging past him, but blowing right by him, & no this isn't an old worn out AX engine either. It is a few months old & properly broken in. Another friend has a TT .46 that I am very impressed with. It runs excellent & it too produces great power, sounds great, idles very low & smooth. If I were in need of a new .46 size engine I would have to give the TT .46 some serious thought. While the OS .46AX is the most costly of the bunch I don't see it performing any better than the OS .46FXI that came in my NexStar.
I also have some very old OS engines that belonged to my Father. An OS .60, a 25FX, & a 1964 OS .10. The 60 & 25 are both about 25 to 30 yrs old & the 10 is 42 yrs old. All 3 eninges still run like champs. Which leads me to believe that while there are other less expensive engines available they may actually produce a little better power than it's OS counterpart, I doubt that any of them will out perform OS in quality & longevity. Ya gotta admit that a 42 yr old engine that fires right up & idles nice & smooth with great transition is pretty impressive as far as quality goes!![sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]
