Default Charging NiMH

Hi

I recently bought an [link=http://www.atlantahobby.com/shopexd.asp?id=400]Ele-bee flying wing[/link] to use as a park flyer (for pics http://dydx05.blogspot.com/ ). My flying field is about an hours drive from where i am [&o].

To power it I have a basic 1100mAh NiMH. I have a swallow delta v fast charger. Is it safe to leave a NiMH FAST charging unattended? I certainly wouldn't do it with a LiPo but you don't hear about NiMH exploding into flames that often.

Basically I'm sitting here typing this with the battery charging on the shelf behind me......and I need to go.....really bad[&:][&:][&:]

cheers

dy

I'm not familiar with the swallow delta v fast charger, but if it is designed for NiMh packs, then you can use it unattended. Even if it is designed for NiCd, you can generally use it for NiMh. If you overcharge NiMh, you might ruin the pack, but they do not tend to burst into flames.

Okay...

Also, when it says "do not charge while hot" does that mean....above room temperature, too hot to touch etc???

What is the effect of charging a hot pack.

The too hot thing means hot to the touch. If its room temp, then its good to charge. If you charge a hot pack, typically the battery won't hold the charge too well and sometimes you might ruin the pack.
