Default 3 wires on battery?

I bought a 6.0 volt JR battery the other day and noticed it has 3 wires on the lead. All my other batteries (4.8 volt) only have 2 wires on the lead. What's the third wire for? My switch only has 2 wires on the battery lead. Is this going to be a problem? Thanks for the help.

To the best of my knowledge (which isn't much) the extra wire is not used for RC plane applications. It may be used for other applications. I believe their assumption is that if they have to use a 3 wire connector then wire up the 3rd connection for some other type of application.

Just a theory, but JR may only have one standard roll of wire to grab from when asembling components, versus Futaba who might have a separate roll for batteries vs servos.

Pauly,
you only need the positive and negative wire on
a battery. Positive wire is red most of the time,
and the negative wire is generally black or in
some cases brown.

Some put 'Servo' leads on batteries, but do not
connect the 'signal wire'.

The signal wire will be white, yellow, orange, or
in the case of the older Airtronics connectors,
they will be black.

Your battery is wired up properly, but the third
wire, or what is called the signal wire, is not
connected.

hope this helps you.

Hey thanks for the replies guys. I kind of figured the signal wire wasn't needed, just wasn't sure. I guess I'm ready to go. Thanks again!
