I tried to install some robart hinges on a 60 size P51. Before I seated the alieron flush with wing the CA set up. I would say there is a 1/8 inch gap or less of space left between the alieron and wing. Will this hurt anything?
Thanks

question is the trailing edges lined up between the wing and aileron if it is then you can span the gap with some monocote. if not remove the hinges and put new ones in using 30 min epoxy CA will work but as you found out it drys quick and you cant adjust things like hinges, use a little vaseline in the joint to keep the epoxy out you should be able to twist the hinges out after using CA if not use a little de bonder in a syringe they should loosen up enough to remove. not with epoxy though they will be permanent

An 1/8th of an inch is a pretty big gap. A gap of that size is going to affect the way the plane flies. You'll need to mount it so that the gap is as small as possible. You can also seal the gap with monokote/ultracoat to help reduce the effect that the gap has.

First, seal that gap with covering. Second, you've learned to not install hinges of this type with CA. Use slow-set epoxy next time. That will give you time to properly align and set the control surface.

Next time, cut small pockets in the trailing edge and notch the aileron edge so you can get them closer.
Do NOT use CA (any thickness) on Robart hinge pins. Epoxy or polyurethane is best.

Look at this:

You can also counter-bore the trailing edges to allow the hinge to go in a bit further.
