I recently purchased a GWS Be Found plane finder. It lets off a hideously high pitch and loud noise when the RX and TX either lose signal to each other, or if the flight pack battery falls below 4.2 (I think its 4.2) volts.
Anyone else used them? I had a hunt through the site trying to find info on the forums, but was unable to locate any info.
Also bought a Hobbico VoltWatch 2. This pretty much just displays the current flight pack voltage and will use this in another plane I have. These any good ?
Cheers

Some of the guys at the club I am going to join strongly suggested I pick one of those up. Theres all kinds of thick brush around the feild there, and they say it's damn near impossible to find a down'd plane out there. Seems like it's a fine little tool.

I was thinking of modifying the trainer with some sort of clear window and mounting the voltwatch underneath the window.
Any suggestions?
Also purchased a Dave Brown six shooter fuel pump, a Great Planes Fuel can setup and a new Hitec Servo for a spare. Gotta love ebay hehe.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Wasn't sure if I had purchased something which was useless or did more harm than good.

Mount it on the outside and try to put it where the oil from the exhaust doesn't get on it. In planes with canopies, I've seen a lot mounted there; easy to see and fairly well protected. The window idea is OK but I'd just mount it outside to avoid the extra work.

Awesome. Thanks for the info.
Can't wait to get it and set it up.
Dont have a field charger and only have a wall plug type TX and RX battery charger. So impossible to know if the batteries are charged fully or not.

Do you mount yours outside the plane flyinrog? If so how do you do it? Hard to judge exactly how bulky it is as I haven't received it yet. I guess having it inside the plane is pretty useless.

Thanks flyinrog.
I will attach it to the opposite side to the muffler near the on/off switch.
Also read that I should check the voltwatch just after landing cause if you check it while it has been sitting for a while turned off you can get false readings.
And also will wiggle the sticks to check how much drain there is on the batt pack. Loading the battery so to speak.
Both sound like good advice to me.
Yes losing planes in the outback is no fun I should imagine. One guy at the field had to watch in disbelief as his new plane flew off into the distance and over a hill a couple of miles away never to be seen again. Not sure if a "Be Found" unit would have helped as it was a long drive to get to where the plane was last seen and it could have gone for miles past the hill. The battery would have been dead by the time they got there I dare say.
I hope I never have that experience. Watching it disappear and not being able to do anything would shatter me. Specially a new model with new engine etc.
