Ok, I have come to the conclusion that my durabat just isnt made to fly. I fixed it and it just will not stay in the air. It crashed again. This time the needle valve was destroyed. The radio is so old, that it can't be used with anything made today. It feels as if I have no control over the thing.
So, I am looking for a decent RTF kit, trainers, the p51's, or whatever else is out there. I want something that has ailerons though.
Any online sites that sell these kits?
Thanks guys.

P-51 PTS, and many others www.horizonhobby.com
Many brands/models. Horizon's primary competitor www.towerhobbies.com
There are literally dozens of online hobby suppliers; these happen to be the two biggest.
www.hobbypeople.net has retail stores in CA as well as online sales.

Before you spend any more money, do you have an experienced flyer who can help you? If not, check the AMA web site and find a club in your area. Talk to people there about the specific stuff you have and the problems you're having. You'll likely have to join AMA and join the club to get hands on flight instruction (the instruction itself should be free to club members) but it could easily be worth the price of dues in equipment and frustration savings.
The club locator is on this site
http://www.ama-dist-8.org/ActualIndex.html
There are two listed in Lancaster and one in Palmdale

also, dont be scared of setting up an ARF kit. Dont spend the money on .40 size RTF when you could have gone a cheaper route and gotten a .60 sized ARF. Generaly, if you buy the radio kit, the motor, and the ARF, all you need is some glue and your RTF. Its VERY easy to set it up, and will generaly get you better, or more reusable at least, gear at a lower price.
if you cant install servos and a motor, or put an ARF wing together, you need to learn now and not when your trying to fix it.

mcarlson11,
From the sound of your first post it sounds like you are having troubles with the flying part. As mentioned above, are you using an instructor to help you in learning to fly? An instructor can help you get your plane set up properly so that it's ready to fly, and then they can help you to keep the plane "in the air". Learning to fly a plane isn't an easy task, and the majority of people who try to fly without proper instruction will crash their planes over and over again.
My advice would be to find an instructor to help you get going.
Hope this helps

First, an RTF is NOT a kit. An ARF is sort of a kit. A KIT is a KIT.
That being said, I also recommend an ARF where YOU can pick the engine and radio that YOU want and can reuse later.
Find an instuctor at one of your local clubs. I believe I listed 2 for you in a previous thread. This will be your best chance for success. Failing to do this, keep the credit card handy as you will be needing it often.

BTW, scrapping the plane because the radio is to old is not necessary. needle valves are easy to replace, as are radios. Radio's can be had for as little as 100$(had a LHS offer me one for 75 with transmitter and two servos the other day that was brand new....just didnt have the $$), the needle valve and associated part should cost 15$ or so(trust me ive thrashed two of them on one motor
). Just a thought man. I reinterate(though with less experience to back it up) what has been said above. If youve crashed more than once, dont spend money until you get help. Ive only seen one person make a succesful first flight without help......lemme put it this way, this dude learned to fly a helicopter in about three weeks(and im not talking very short hops, he hovers very well and can do forward flight), he picks up REALY fast.
How bad is it trashed btw? if its reparable( assume its a trainer correct?), and your ready to throw it away, send it this direction and ill fix it and give it to someone who can use it.

Its been crashed 3 times now, twice by me and once by my dad. It is a peice of junk plane. It weighs like 7 pounds, the body, tail, and muffler are cracked. The body actually shattered. Its a duracraft durabat. I have read reviews by some professionals that said this thing is very difficult to fly. I have flow electric rc planes before with no problem, and a helicopter.
I just dont think this was ment to fly. Another reason I want an RTF kit, is I dont have the time to build a kit or and arf kit. An instructor I will get for the next plane I get, just to be safe.
