I was wondering if anyone would know if there is an easy way to convert inch measurement to degrees for throw. Say I want my aileron to deflect 1" or 7/8". Does someone have a chart or something I can copy to find out what that would be in exact degrees?

Trigonometry,
Length of control surface is Adjacent (x) control movement in inches is Opposite (y) you are looking for the angle Tangent (A)
Here is a calculator http://www.1728.com/trigcalc.htm

It depends on the distance from the hinge line to where you are measuring. Most manufacturers provide throws in inches because they know how far from the hinge line to the end of the surface. Unless you know how far out to measure then the number is just a number, whereas in degrees, 10 degrees is 10 degrees no matter how far from the center line.

Good point, I see what you mean. I have a CRC throw meter and I love it. Like you said though, seems manufacturers for the most part all use a measurement in inches. I just felt too lazy to figure out the conversion to degrees. Thanks
