Default Beginner's Luck? =)

Heres the setting..

8am.. Sun breaking through the light cloud cover.. I finally get to Fly my Nexstar trainer. (Buddy cord setup)

First time out.. instructor takes it up.. gets it up some.. and Says ok your control lets practice doing a square flying pattern...

No prob... mission accomplished.. he brings it around approaches and lands no prob.

refuel plane.. while talking about what we were doing up there ..

We get it ready again. and i ask. can i try taking off. Sure no prob.. just go easy.. and pull up gently when its got enough speed..

Sure enough... i get it off the ground No problem =) now that i made the initive to take off.. he said lets practice approaches.. putting the deck say 30-40 feet up. So after about 5 passes and approach lines ups.. I told him.. I wanted to bring it in.

he said.. if i loose control right off the deck and he tries to take control he might not be able to save it.. I said i was ready..
(Take in mind.. this is my first time really flying and the first time flying this plane)

Brought it around.. cut the throttle.. and slowly.. making quick adjustments here and there.. lined it up.. slowly brining it down..

*Cut scene to a 3 point perfect landing*

the instructor.. Just kinda stood there.. and after about a min of my plane idling on the runway after landing.. he said.. hey.. My thumb hurts from holding the trainer button... I didnt have to take it once.. and you basicly just soloed your first time..

*Cut scene* Me running around yelling Yeah baby thats what im talking about
I asked myself.. Did i just win like it mattered or what..

the instructor Rob. was simply amazed and had never seen such control in the air as a beginner and was really truly blown away by me. And said so the rest of the morning as we chatted about everyhing. I must say.. Having just gotten into this sport and finally gotten to fly my plane.. just to take control like that he said.. you sir are a statistic ... that 2% that could go out and Fly without an instructor outta the box..

Ok.. so i got to make about 4 more Runs up doing the pattern around the field touch and goes.. using the rudder.. just training stuff.. Im like so psyched.. i cant believe it..

I mean last night i tried to go to bed at 9pm thinking.. the faster i get to sleep.. the earlier tomorrow comes... and Here on that day.. I basicly soloed my 2nd time up ever..

now ive never flown a plane before.. and this really was my first time on the plane. Guess all my intense "Twitch" Playing games where im constantly moving or adjusting somthing paid off for this lol =)

So here i am at work now.. waiting for the moment to get out to get home.. plug my chargers in and try and get to bed so tomorrow can come that much faster.

Now i want to really believe that i showed great potentinal and control in the air.. but is this instructor just kinda putting me up? is someone soloing and flying for the first time on the first day a common thing?

Anyways! back to "Work" and thoughts of tomorrows flying adventures

congrats the NEXTAR is a really forgiving plane and a brease to fly did you have the AFS on? you should disable it it makes for bad habbits .there are alot of critics of this plane but for me it went really well, also after 5 flts or so I soloed .after some more practice and some hard landings I am sure, take the flaps and droops off you will be surprised how much faster and manuverable it is. this is a durable plane but it does have its limits. I have crashed, repaired, and recovered it a few times and its still flying stoked your having so much fun

Well done [sm=thumbup.gif]
You are either a born natural, or it could be beginners luck.
Born naturals do exist, but like anything, they are far and few between.
they usually occur when the individual already has a good knowledge of how planes fly, and how to fly them before even having a go.

I myself was in this position before having an attempt a year and a half ago.
I soon found out though that transferring that knowledge into two sticks was an entirely different thing, and it took a couple of months before I started to go out on my own, which is still quick by any standard, after only about 8 sessions.
There are people at the club that I learned to fly that have been at it for two years and are still asking the instructor to take off and land for them!
Some people never seem to grasp it, while others take to it easily.
Like me, you are lucky.

As for being a common thing, then no definatlely not, most need many sessions over a good few months.

I bet your really chuffed with yourself after that, I know I was when I did it on my own, like most are also when they finally achieve it.

Keep it up, & youll love it.

They say that you are more likely to damage your second plane after you can already fly, not your trainer.
I came to the conclusion that this is because you fly your first one carefully so you can get used to it.
But when you buy your next one, like a follow on trainer low wing type, then you get a bit more daring as you gain experience, and it's then that you bugger it up, and make one mistake too many, and end up with some damage of some kind.
With a bit of luck, it will be repairable.
It is then that the repairs, and future modifications will start to kick in now and then, as you gain more experience, you are more likely to want to fiddle about and make certain things better than they are as standard.

This is what happened with my increasing mini squadron already

Most of all, enjoy it, as thats what it's all about. [sm=thumbup.gif]
