Give me some opinions or ideas of this for a first time trainer. Positive or negative I'd like both sides if there are any.

Good choice

The Goldberg Eagle 2 is one of the better trainers out there. You won't have any problems with it at all. Good choice.

The Eagle 2 was my first trainer... still have it. Flies just fine and is a good choice a first airplane... plus it being a little smaller and lighter than say an LT40 means it doesn't need quite as powerful/heavy/thirsty an engine. Mine has an OS46LA on the front which, while not as powerful as an OS46FX/AX, is more than enough motor to get up over the trees.

If there was a way to count such things, I suspect we'd find that more fledgling pilots have learned on an Eagle than any other type. I know I did...

While the Sig LT-40 has slightly more wing area, that's all the Eagle gives up. These two are the top of the trainer heap, IMO; kit or ARF.

A good choice! I had it's brother the Eagle 400 electric powered (upgraded motor and battery) that I learned a lot on after I soloed. I hope your not trying to teach yourself to fly?

No not at all. I've been talking to the local club that suggested the LT-40 but they're a bit hard to get right now. I was simply looking for the next best thing. Sounds like the Goldberg will be a great substitute. According to some, maybe even a better choice. The Eagle 2 is on order. Thanks for the input guys...

I like the Multiplex Easy Star. You can't destroy it if you try. My brother and I taught ourselfs with this plane. Yes we climbed alot of trees, but it wasn't the planes problem. Flies very slow and handles great. I recommend this model. Even after learning we still enjoy just flying the Easy Star. Good luck

The Eagle 2 is an excellent trainer. I learned on the Eagle 63 before they changed it to an Eagle 2. Good Choice.

I started with an Eagle 11 back in the early 90's the plane was fine but the teachers were terrible, the entire time I was in the way of their fun time ,,I did manage to solo but crashed a few times too...it was not the pleasant experience most people speak of, the last straw was my step daughter slamming the wing in the car door,,threw everything in the basement and left the hobby for about 10 years got back into it with 1/2a and have been happy ever since,,btw the teachers ran the LHS... long since out of business...Rog

I learned on the cg eagle 2, it's a great plane, looks good, and at least @ our field a bit different than all the rest, still flying it as i build #2.. I like that it actually resembles a plane, not just a box w/ a high wing..
