The maiden was a success!!
I woke up at 7am ready to go fly, but I realized that it was too early, so I went back into my hammock for "another 5 minutes"... which turned to be 4 hours
Anyway.. I woke up (again) at 11 and after cursing a little for over-sleeping I grabbed my stuff and off I went.
The heat and the sun were awfull and I arrived to the field only to find out that all my flying buddies (but 1) had already left because of the heat (+100ΒΊ F).
So I asked the guy if he could snap some pictures while I was in the air, but he found my camera "too difficult to operate"
so I couldn't take any pictures.
But I got some video!!
I put my cammera in film mode and said to the guy "Just PRESS HERE" and that was it.
It is a little cr*ppy because my camera doesn't shine when it comes to take video.
The flight was pretty much uneventfull, much of what I expected, tight turns and quick rolls, but nothing else. I didn't like my first landing, it bounced on the runway and ended on some grass, but no dammage at all.
Well, here it is

Thanks

Somegeek: Thanks dude, I'll open a thread as soon as I decide to build another kit, it's not gonna be soon though
John: Yes, actually it looks like a UFO in the video

Congrats on the maiden Joe. Take care of it now and enjoy a job well done. One of the guys on our field just bought an ARF version and it doesn't look near as good as yours.

Really? I managed to get 10 minutes of flying in this weekend. How much can you envy me? [sm=lol.gif]

I'm afraid of kits; I have been ARFing my way through R/C, and my instructor (who now just tells me when I do something wrong) is desperately trying to convince me to build a kit.
I'm glad your build went well, and fast! Great maiden, and a great video! Hope you enjoy flying your Dazzler 40!

Great looking airplane, Congratulations on the maiden.
As you can see now, there is nothing to be afraid of in building kits. In fact it is alot of fun

I agree that the ARF version doesn't look very good, I didn't like the scheme either and I was lucky enough to get the kit covered without any problem. A good thing about covering this plane is that everything is straight, blunt and square, so the covering process is very straight forward.

Don't be affraid, just pick an easy target for your first kit. I've heard the 4-Star or the Tiger-2 make great first kits, and don't forget the Dazzler, you've seen in this thread how "easy" it was.
As for the airplane per-se, I found it a little boring, it's not very fast, lacks rudder authority, very difficult (for me) to keep in a hover.... and I'm affraid that it will tear up in flight

I think it would be a great third or fourth airplane though, it's the kind of plane that goes where you point it to.
I'm used to the flying caracteristics of the (heavy) Seagull Extra 300 I usually fly, where I have a somewhat big dependancy on mass/momentum, and need to fly it all the time, with the Dazzler I feel like I could just fly it hands off and move the sticks only to stop it from crashing, I don't know, I must need another kind of therapy now

I'm planning on getting a Space Walker myself. If I had the room to build, I'd get the 1/4 Scale sig kit. Maybe I need a bigger place?
Congrats again on the great job. I'm sure after you fly it a bit, you'll be able to wring some more tricks out of it.

Please Graham, stop puting ideas in my head [sm=stupid.gif]
I don't think I have enough space to build something bigger than a 60 size, I'm considering building an Edge or a Cap (60 size) to give the first steps into Gas engines with the "new" Zenoah 20cc... but that won't be soon, I'm on a tight budget right now and everything is so EXPENSIVE here [&o]
Ohhh a 25% Space Walker [:-] sounds nasty, build it outside

Doesn't sound too bad, but on the other side, the closest thing to snow I've seen is inside my fridge
So, Graham's last hope is to build another house
sorry mate

LOL Bruce, combo bar/workshop. I don't see a lot of straight wings coming out of there.
I have a NexSTAR at the moment Joe, the Seagull Space Walker II will be #2. I have an AT-6 as well that is staying shelved until I get used to taildraggers, and higher wing loading. At the moment I'm sitting in my office looking out at the first sunny day since this time last week, wishing I was at the field.

You could always add on a room or build a shed/shop area with heat and a/c,. Oh, and a beer tap
as long as we're dreaming.

I guess that if you turned all your engines on you could get enough airflow to cool the room, of course you would die within 10 minutes of carbon monoxide poisoning.. oh whatever... you can't have it all

I won't be here Friday so I have to get my cheap shot is today so here goes.
And with RCKen in the room there would be plenty of HOT AIR!
Sorry, just had to do it. [sm=bananahead.gif]
