Well, considering that Horizon is one of the main distributors for Hanger 9 merchandise it doesn't look good that you'll find it elsewhere. I looked on Tower's site and it doesn't appear that they stock that item. You might try calling some of the bigger hobby shops and see if they might have one in stock. Otherwise you might be waiting until October.

Try here
http://www.sheldonshobbies.com/listing/jrs04.html
item JRSA130 has a similar price but no picture.

I HIGHLY recommend a phone call to verify what this item is befor ordering because I can't guarantee it is the same part.

What about that big mail order place up in Canada? Their name escapes me right now.

I didn't think you could buddy a JR to a Futaba. Isn't there a little compatibility problem there?

The Futaba has to be the instructor with the cord he specified, won't work the other way as I understand it.
I do prefer to stay within brands but.........

I believe my LHS has them. They are about 13.00 dollars or so. If you are interested send me a pm and we could work out the details.

The Hangar 9 PTS Mustang Trainer comes with the "conbination" cord. The JR TX is the master and the Futaba is the buddy box. The Futaba TX is not compatible with the JR receiver, so it can't be the instructor box.

As I said before, I was referring to the cord he specified in his original post. In the Horizon Hobby ad he posted it states (among other things:
JR pilots can train or buddy-box with instructors who have Futaba radios
Extra-long 7-foot cord
Can also be used as a standard JR-to-JR trainer cord
Works with nearly all Futaba radios (excludes 9C)

The first line is the most important and backs up what I previously said. So apparently the Futaba TX is compatable in that instance.

Jim, the cord included with the Mustang may be different but I don't have that information.

Bruce, not to beat this to death, but saying that the student can buddy box with instructors who have Futaba radios doesn't mean that the Futaba radio will drive the JR receiver. It means that the Futaba radio can be used as the buddy box. I can see where you might infer that the instructor's Futaba TX will be the "instructor" radio, but not so. The instructor flies the JR radio.

Talk to your instructor/s. Them him that you want to participate in the fun fly, but you're still on the "cord". It's possible that he may help you participate in some of the fun fly events by taking you out with the buddy box to help you in the event. Remember, it's called a "FUN" fly. It's supposed to be fun for everyone. It's worth a shot, and could give you some great experience if they let you get in the air.
