i got a used jell cell, and it is having issues charging. i had it on the charger for over 14 hours, and the voltage didnt change at all. it still reads around 9.25 volts. is there a way i can cycle it or is it garbage?
the charger is new. without a load it reads at 12.5 volt, charging the battery it is reading 11.20volt. what can i do?

If you're using the correct charger, it sounds like your gel cell battery might just be shot. You can use any popular A/C wall charger that's designed to charge a flight box battery. How old is the battery? My old one lasted 10+ years.

The Torquemaster mini would be a good choice, but I would get the fullsize Torquemaster. It has a higher ampere rating. As for charges, it should last four or five years at least.

From an economics standpoint, it is hard to beat getting a lawn mower battery (about $28) and using that for your field charging. It has more capacity than most gell cells, has a higher amp-hour capacity and is not that much larger than a gell cell.

i donno if this is a good idea or not, but anyway. i am going to be flying park flyers for now, and conversions in the future, so what my idea is that i will start off with one 7A gel cell good for 6 charges "basicly what i need for now for evening flights" and when the time comes, add a gel cell when needed. i would have it wired so multipul batteries will act as one battery.
the deep cycle battery would be good, but i dont want to get a 50 dollar charger for that, so what i thought is that for the same price i can get for just the charger, i can get 3 gel cell batteries, and use a hobbico charger for them.
