This weekend has probably been the most enjoyable flying weekend for me yet.. having come so far in such a short time, this weekend was me pushing it to the limits..

i tell you what, having flown no other plane im going to go out on a limb here and say Nextstar is a badass trainer..

I tuned the engine out on the lean side.. put in higher nitro fuel, removed the baffle from the muffler..


I had this bad boy ripping it up... Hovering for limited ammounts of time, inverted.. high speed dives and wicked hard banked turns and loops..

my instructor was hanging out.. not that hes done any instructing since well.. day one when i soloed on the buddy box =o and had him dumbfounded..
and he was like you should really try a 4 point roll and so i tried... but the self correcting of the nextstar wouldnt let it =(...


i guess alot of things im going to be unable to do untill i can jump into a more aerobatic plane.



While having a love for the looks of a p51 mustang. im heavily considering an Ultra stick or a extra 300 now just for their pure aerobatic ability which will push my flying skills further and harder alot faster then the p51 mustang trainer.



Anyways... Anyone got any neat things to share about what they have done with a trainer?.. hovering? anything crazy and so forth?

Similarly cool weekend for me. I maidened my WM super sports Sr. (advertized as a low wing aerobatic trainer) This huge bird was a lot of fun and had some trainer like charactoristics such as long slow aproach and semi slow roll rate with aileron only. Couple some rudder and up elevator and she snaps like a dry twig. I did my first inverted semi flat spin (about 25 degrees nose down). I got a great deal on this plane as I would never spend $300 on a "trainer".

I had a pretty good weekend too. I actually soloed for the first time last week, but I still had my instructor around in case of trouble. This past Sunday, I got to the field and no one was around except one guy flying helicopters. Since it was calm, I decided it was now or never and did some flying without a net, so to speak. I had an absolute blast with the runway all to myself, I was flying my Alpha great, and doing constant touch-and-gos and high-speed, low-level passes.

Unfortunately, a gusty crosswind developed and I decided to ground myself. The instructor I had never really uses the rudder, so I'm still not well-versed in it's use. Looks like I'm going to have to teach myself rudder useage if I want to fly in a crosswind.

Hopefully next weekend is just as much fun!

You definitely deserve it. Just make sure you wipe that silly little smile off of your face before you go to work this morning!!!!

A solo flight is a great accomplishment and that wins you one genuine RCU ATTABOY (Suitable for framing, wrapping fish, or lining trashcans).
