I've never covered a wing myself. I bought a used plane that was already covered and now theres a small tear. What can I use to fix this without buying an iron? Is there anything that will stick without having to apply heat? Thanks in advance!

xray,
You can simply use packing tape if you want a quick simple repair that doesn't take heat to apply. Packing tape should be a standard item in a field box for making quick repairs at the field. It's saved my flying day more times than I can count.

I have used anthing from a piece pf scotch tape to a decal. They also sell trim sheets that are self adhesive. It all depends on how big the tear is and how good you want it to look.
good luck.

don't forget to clean the wing of any slime because the tape does not stick good to any of the slime

I used to keep alcohol in my flight box, but Tuaca tastes terrible warm...
Seriously, the clear packing tape is great for at-the-field use. I used to fly from a small tree surrounded airfield, and if you lost power on takeoff you'd get lots of small tears in your covering. The tape never failed me, although I would go back later and replace the covering.
