Online Stores for Airplanes
Hi,
I fly Heli's and just added planes to my list. Can anyone list some solid online vendors to deal with regarding Air parts and kits besides Tower and Horizon.
Thanks

As a helicopter pilot, you're no doubt familiar with Thunder Tiger's Raptor line. It so happens that Thunder Tiger makes fantastic electric and glow powered fixed wing aircraft as well as helicoptors, boats, motorcycles, cars, and trucks. One of the most complete sources for all of Thunder Tiger's outstanding products is:
http://www.thundertiger4u.com
They carry a nice selection of parts as well as vehicles and engines. They offer free shipping for all orders over $150. They're very competitive with regard to price on all of the r/c gear that they carry. So far I've also received very good customer service from them, as well.
Some other interesting places to shop:
http://www.airborne-models.com (The World Models U.S. distributor)
http://www.richmondrc.com (North American distributor for VMar/VMax r/c products)
http://www.ak-models.com (reseller of CMPro ARFs and mfr of their own r/c kits)
http://www.americanpioneerhobbies.com (U.S. distributor for Black Horse Models ARFs)
http://www.hobbypeople.net (retail division of Global Hobby Distributors, handles Magnum Engines, Model Tech and Sportsman Aviation ARFs)
As fun as Internet shopping is, however, you really should try to spend as much as possible at your local hobby store, even if it costs you a little extra. I'd hate to have to wait a week to fly because I had to mail-order $3.00 worth of DuBro hardware after my local hobby store closed down.

Don't forget about Canada's version of tower hobbies [link]http://www.greathobbies.com/[/link]
They have some ok prices but, when it comes to shipping they have been great so far for me. I think they might still send you a catalog of everything they carry for free if you order something over $100- don't know if they do it anymore, they did the first time I delt with them.

Great Hobbies is very good to deal with. Their prices for planes in Can. are better than I can buy them for in the US and bring them in my self. As far as Vmar planes and Richmond RC, well... there are much better choices. The planes look inexpensive but the quality is poor and so is the service! Much better off looking at a World Models ARF for inexpensive but great quality!
