I don't know if this is the best place to ask this kind of question, but seen as though most people who have an LT-40 post here, I thought it would be the best place to ask. If not, then someone please redirect me to another place where these questions can be answered better.
Anyway, I want to do a few modifications to my sig kadet LT-40. I've been flying it for a few months now and are pretty good at the flying aspect and looking to do any kind of modifications to it that improves the performance or will make it more capable of performing more air manoeuvres. What are some modifications I can make to the LT-40?
One can be flaps. Could you add flaps on a LT-40?
One other modification question that doesn't really have to do with performance, but looks. I am just adding on real windows right now and want to put a cockpit in the front. There is enough room behind the gas tank so it would work. What I want to know is there are cockpit kits out there for other airplanes, would some of these kits work for the LT-40 if they could be slightly modified to fit so that it wouldn't alter it in a big way? Or I was thinking of making my own. Where is a place where I can get cockpit decals or stickers of the various instruments? I also would have to maybe make my own seats. Is there a place where you could get small airplane like seats?
And one other thing. I'm making the front window on the pilots side so that it can open and close. What is the best way to make it do this? Right now, I was just thinking of putting a hinge on the window and attaching it to the plane. It looks like a crude method but would work. Any tips on this? And how about keeping the door close. How would I do that? I was thinking of a latch idea but I don't know where to get really small latches. Advice and tips on all these things would be helpful. Thanks.

move the CG back:
move the CG back in 1/4 inch increments till it feels more aerobatic but not so much you cant handle it.
Increase control throw:
move the control arms in a hole or two to get more throw out of the control surfaces. file away some balsa if you have to. again go a bit at a time to get it right for your skill level.
convert to a tail dragger:
save a bit of weight by converting it to a tail dragger and putting on lighter gear.(there have been a few threads about this, just search for them)
change props:
a diffrent pitch prop can make a model seem a whole lot diffrent, try going up a number or two on pitch to get more speed (like from a 11x6 to a 11x7) or go down to get more "pulling power" at low speed (11x6 to 11x5) also a smaller or larger prop might work better (11x6 to 10x8 or 12x5) depending on your engine.
as for converting the cockpit I would be carful in this area. you need to make sure that you have enough support for the airframe and wings, if you cut into any load bearing area make sure you reenforce it with light ply epoxied or well CAed into place.
i dont know about the scale stuff but im sure someone on here has some ideas.

If you want a more maneuverable plane build a plane designed for that purpose. The LT-40 is supposed to be a stable trainer to learn to fly with.

I would be VERY careful about puting windows in as you may sacrefice strenght for looks. If you're tired of it,sell it and build Sig's next step in learning to flt, some kind of a shoulder wing model, can't remember the name, should'nt be hard to find.

Very true, before you go chopping up your trainer, look into stepping up (as in: Congratulations, you've graduated!) Here are a few outstanding Intermediate Planes:
